You have to personally hold it, experience its "feel" in your hand (weight, flex, etc.) and look through its pages to truly appreciate its beauty and the quality of its construction throughout. The Nelson KJV (study) Bible has long been recognized as perhaps the "true leader" in study Bibles because of the clear and concise notes and references that it provides the reader, and even if you "know" the Bible I am sure that there are times that checking these notes is rewarding and enlightening (they are for me personally at least). I was in graphics/printing/publishing for my entire career and worked in some of the best high-end-quality publishing firms and have personally worked on and/or visually seen thousands of books in their production processes so I know instantly when handling or looking through or "at" a book just what went into it and whether or not it really is worth its price and worth having at your reach. This Bible is truly very well constructed and from high quality materials (and you can truly trust me on this). For myself personally, if I have my choice, I will never purchase a "hard cover" edition of a Bible for two very clear reasons (to me). The first is that because of its size and weight of all of its pages a hard cover copy is much heavier, also harder to handle and balance and hold because of the awkwardness of its rigidity created by the board covers. Also, the weight of the pages, through frequent handling and use, create very heavy stress on the binding and the volume itself becomes loose and "sloppy" at its joining the covers because the flyleaves at the front and back that hold it in the covers break down and will frequently tear the book from its covers. A flexible cover allows the entire book to take the stress of handling, etc. It's like a law of nature...flexible content attached to a rigid item (cover) something has to give, and the weakest point is the flyleaf, which is the only thing holding all that flexible weight in that rigid cover. Because the cover flexes the stress from the book is able to cross over or spread to the cover also and frequent handling/use will not do damage to the binding and weaken the book's attachment to the cover.} The paper used in this Bible is very high quality, very thin (which creates a lighter book for handling), brilliant warm white (easier on the eye), and for its thin-ness has No show-through (from the print on the other side of the page) and has a nice smooth finish making it pleasing to the touch. The type-face is 11pt and very clear and easy to read.... therefore you will have No trouble reading this. Also, while Christ's words are in color, the publisher has chosen to use a much more suitable sienna brown ink instead of the usual "shocking" red used in most Bibles. I really found this to be a wonderful touch. The notes, maps, concordance, etc., are all very clear and concise, and truly helpful to the reader when needed add to the useful value here. The bonded leather cover is tough, durable, and just "feels right" to your fingers and in your hands and its construction is first-class high quality. A final lovely touch (to me) is the silver embossing of "Holy Bible" alone on the front cover, repeated on the spine with added "The King James Study Bible second edition" with two beautiful flourishes and also the logo alone for the Thomas Nelson publishing company which just keeps the whole spine clean and un-cluttered looking. The Final Finishing Touch to the beauty of this Bible is the silver-edged pages, instead of the usual gold.... just so neat and clean-looking against the (in my case) black cover. Perhaps I personally see this silver/black combination as more masculine or something, I really don't know, all I know is that I find it most pleasing to my eye. One last note to you here is that I have recently donated my other KJV Bibles and, for me, "this is it...the choice for me"...I'm betting that you will also be this satisfied yourself after you have seen and have felt this lovely Bible in your own hands! {As a final note, I hope this does not come across as a "commercial"..... I am not writing this here to "sell Bibles", but I am wanting to convey to you just how well produced and finished this Bible is, and to express how pleased that I think you will also be once you have seen it, read some of it, and held it for yourself. Review: VERY VERY NICE ITEM - A Truly Fine Book, And A Excellent Study Bible!: This Bible Is Truly A Good Item Very Underrated And Serves Its Purpose Well!. I will try and keep this review brief as one could write a really long review of this but I'll try to stick to the main points First off i didn't have all the dings, bleed-overs, or torn covers that others reported. My Bible was packed very well, arrived in splendid condition and is a quality item and i will humbly take off my hat both to the Publisher and to desertcart for putting this book out at this price given the high costs of things etc!.... Excepting one teeny minor thing I really cannot think of anything against this book, Tho one flyleaf page did have a tiny crease in it, But I didn't think that unusual as i simply used some patience and took a pen and simply reset the page across the pen until the crease was no longer visible!. An old but good trick which I remembered from working in Publishing Plants along with also being a 'Published Author' in my own right!,..... Frankly I refuse to recommend one version against the other as in my view the best Bible is the one you read all the time as otherwise you cannot learn nor profit by them!. Now the main feature of this particular Bible is that i really like the way the Nelson Bible takes Complicated Facts and some rather involved doctrinal matters and just explains everything in a plain and simple way, as in that regard this version is a real jewel beyond price. MY ADVICE: SALTYS for Children!. MOODY'S BIBLE for new Students!. SCHOFIELDS for General Levels readers!. NELSONS STUDY BIBLE for Doctrinal and Advanced or College Level Readers!. Yes i can read without glasses but I bought the large print version for my friends who cant if they should like to borrow it, yet i admit I rather like the print size as its not too Large nor not too Small either. For me the hardest thing to get use to were the somewhat thinner pages but it does keep the weight down as this book has both Old and New Testaments so it is a large book but thankfully not prohibitively so!. To Close I think it a very excellent Bible and one the reader can easily learn from as i am already studying mine with considerable interest and enjoyment!. Kudos to desertcart for having this available!. Kudos to the Sellers for keeping the cost down!..... Seriously do buy this you wont be sorry!. Indiana ED

Trade Offs Worth it with Handy 25 y/o Conservative Study Bible
Well made for an inexpensive Bible, and the 11 pt. font is a luxury - a noticeable difference from my other Bibles. The dust jacket is so pretty I ordered a clear matte sleeve and kept it on. It looks very nice and well-protected, and I added tabs. The language is beautiful, and not at all difficult to read, either silently or out loud. I have come to prefer the KJV. It makes me slow down and pay closer attention. I am very pleased with this purchase. The only warning - and it is not a major issue - I would give concerns the notes (not bloated as are the giants of study Bibles publishers, who feel they must awe the buying public with the thickest, heaviest volume). For example, under the miracle of Jesus turning water into wine, the note says, with a straight face, something to the effect that Jesus probably didn't turn the water into *wine,* but something "better." Oddly non-literal for a very conservative study Bible. I can ignore a few dodgy footnotes. But denying Jesus turned water into wine at a wedding where people were drinking wine and the steward said "Wow, what great wine; in fact most people serve the good wine first and save the swill for when everyone is too drunk to notice the difference, but I know my wine, and this wine is the best wine ever," seems to be a daffy, offputting if not potentially limiting, editorial choice. So it bears the mark of its Jerry Falwell Liberty University editors, but that's no different from any other study Bible. The 5700 notes are generally helpful (considerably fewer than other study Bibles, whose editors seem to feel every verse requires some comment). By and large, the notes and introductory material are excellent, and, of course, conservative. There are very nice, bottom-of-the-page, brief doctrinal essays, each with a valuable practical application. I really found these helpful, and there are many. I also like the center column cross references, although they are on the scant side compared with, say, the old NIV Study Bible. Even so, it hits the most significant ones. I now reach for this Bible before the much bigger other KJV or other study Bibles now for very practical reasons. (My wife got the huge, pretty, new NIV one, although I keep the underrated Tyndale NLT Study Bible handy.) It's the form factor that I like. It's very handy for a study Bible, although that brings trade offs. There is virtually no margin space, so unless you want to write in microscopic letters, you're not going to fit in notes. Every reviewer complains about thinness of all study Bible pages. This does seem to have pretty thin ones, and my Zebrite highlighters show through to one degree or another (e.g. green is really too dark; yellow hardly noticeable). And, of course, it has neither the material or bulky heaviness of the current crop of mega-Bibles. Again, I am happy to make these trade offs for the way it handles and the ease of reading.

Excellent, A quality study bible
I am enjoying this study bible and prefer it to the NIV Quest Study Bible, Revised (newer versions available) though I use both. While the wording of more contemporary translations can be helpful and perhaps have a more story like flow for me the majesty of the KJV can't be equaled despite the sometimes archaic language. I also find myself returning to the KJV when I want to study the bible, but I use other translations along side. This study bible has many explanatory notes and is well organized. It goes a bit deeper than the Quest and I think it has more useful aids overall. While the notes and cross references in the Thomas Nelson KJV study bible are in small type, the words of the bible are larger so it's easy on my aging eyes. It's not the largest type I've seen, but certainly larger than some of the so called "large type" bibles that are really only 9pt font. The bible description says the type is 11pt and the type is nice and clear. To my eyes because of the font they use it seems larger than 11pt more like 12pt. Just be aware the notes are much smaller type if you have vision issues. Like most bibles these days the pages are on the thin side, but my hardcover edition appears to be sturdy and should last for many years if not overly abused and thicker pages would mean a bigger and heavier book. Weight is a bit heavy so perhaps not the best bible if you want one to carry around and read. Each book begins with an introduction explaining the central theme of the book, authorship, and date. The intro is followed by a book outline. There are chapter titles to help define the subject of the chapters and aid finding things. Christ's words are red lettered. There are several helpful indexes and guides in the back of the study bible, a concordance, and in-text black and white maps/illustrations so you don't have to flip to the back of the bible to look up a location as in many other bibles I've seen. There are also a few color maps in the back. I still use the Quest NIV bible along side though as sometimes the more contemporary English helps with understanding the passage and there are additional notes from the Quest I can read. This is a great study bible to read alone or in addition to other translations. I highly recommend this study bible as the quality is excellent for the price. I plan on enjoying this study bible for many years to come.

This Kindle Edition of the KJV Study Bible (Nelson/Zondervan) does not always play well with my Kindle apps and devices.
After my initial (very satisfactory) experience with buying a Kindle edition of the Holy Bible, I decided to look for a digital study Bible. My first choice was the “KJV Study Bible, eBook, Second Edition” from Thomas Nelson/Zondervan. This King James Version (KJV) of the Holy Bible is glorious and majestic. The Bible’s text is beautifully formatted for ease of reading and verse memorization. The text font is fully adjustable to different sizes and styles within all my Kindle apps and on my Kindle Fire HD7. The comprehensive supplemental information, which makes this a study bible in its most true sense, has a writing style that is lively and easy to understand. Bible verses are frequently hyperlinked to study notes. All I have to do is click/touch a hyperlinked verse number, and a box pops up with an applicable explanatory note. In a like manner, difficult, obscure, or obsolete words are hyperlinked to an excellent internal Bible dictionary. Navigation through the “KJV Study Bible, eBook, Second Edition” is simple and straightforward. I can navigate to a specific book and chapter (but not a specific verse) through an excellent drop-down menu. I have one major problem with the otherwise wonderful “KJV Study Bible, eBook, Second Edition:” it doesn't always play well with the Kindle apps on my devices. It causes the “Kindle for PC” app on my Windows 10 laptop to go into “Not Responding” mode for up to one minute before it completes launching. It also loads very slowly on all my Android devices, and frequently causes my Kindle for Android apps to crash. Sometimes, it even forces my 8-inch tablet to spontaneously reboot. This problem does not occur with any of my other Kindle books, and it seriously causes me to question its usefulness to me – at least for now. UPDATE (June 27, 2018): Today, I discovered, quite by accident, an (at least) partial solution to the problems I have with this Bible integrating with my Kindle apps. I changed the font from Baskerville to Bookerly. When I opened the "KJV Study Bible" in my Kindle for PC app with the Bookerly font applied, the Bible loaded without any problems – no "Not Responding" messages, and a quicker load time). So, I changed the font to Bookerly in my Kindle for Android apps to see if that made a positive difference – and it did. Now the KJV Study Bible loads somewhat faster than before, and there have been significantly fewer times when my Android apps crashed while loading this Bible. I do like the “KJV Study Bible, eBook, Second Edition” well enough to award it my five-star rating for its content and formatting, but I'm deducting one star for the problems I have in getting it to work properly with my devices.

Great material. Could have more commentary.
The Word of God in all it's splendor. I would recommend the Holman KJV Study Bible. But this is good as well.

Bonne édition.
Quelques traces de colle d'assemblage au niveau de la tranchefile. Bonne impression, très lisible. Je n'ai pas trouvé une seule image sur internet pour cette version de la couverture autre que celle vue de face, alors j'en poste une.
