very fine piece of milling equipment
I purchased a couple of other beam making tools but, frankly, they were cheap Chinese equipment. The Accutech Micro Mill is a finely machined tool. The carbide screw really does hold the saw in place, and that's important when using a chainsaw, both for preservation of the chain but also preservation of your body parts. Using this on small logs does require some creativity or the use of a jib of some sort to hold the logs. It's expensive but well worth it. On smaller logs I use the Micro Mill to square up the logs and then switch to my Alaska Mill for slabbing. On large logs you could to it all with the Micro Mill. The use of a big enough saw and ripping chain will make this less tedious.
