Bottom line: This is the only Cher disc you will ever need. It's all here. The early hits like "All I Really Want to Do," "Bang Bang," "You Better Sit Down Kids," their earlier Reprise Records hit "Baby Don't Go," and even what is the most celebrated Sonny & Cher songs, "I Got You, Babe" and "The Beat Goes On." My very one and only complaint about the set is they omitted "Where Do You Go," my favorite 60's song by Cher.You like 70's Cher? You'll get "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves," "The Way of Love," "Living In A House Divided," "Half Breed," "Dark Lady" and her most underrated song of the decade, "Train of Thought." And another bonus: The pretty much forgotten Sonny & Cher 70's hits "All I Ever Need Is You" and "A Cowboy's Work Is Never Done." Both Top 10 hits, both forgotten. The the collection finishes off the 70's with an extended disco edit of "Take Me Home." I'm not exactly the world's biggest disco fan, but I must admit this song lends its self to it well. I really like it.But It doesn't stop there. The set includes every one of her 80's hits: "I Found Someone," "We All Sleep Alone," her duet with Peter Cetera, formerly of Chicago, "After All ( Love theme from CHANCES ARE )," her highest charting song of the decade, "If I Could Turn Back Time," "Just Like Jessie James," "Heart of Stone," her fun, energetic cover of the famous 60's girl group song "It's In His Kiss ( The Shoop Shoop Song )," "Love and Understanding," "Save Up All Your Tears," and her Chart topping, biggest hit of her career "Believe." The collections ends with her foray into the next millennium with 2002's "A Different Kind of Love Song."This is not a complete track listing. There's 32 songs strung out over two discs, so if I didn't mention your favorite, that doesn't mean it isn't here.Anyone who's familiar with my reviews knows my main concern is sound quality. This is a nicely remastered disc. It takes off much of the added tinny echo and presents Cher's voice in a more natural manner. The instruments sound stronger. This is not a super remaster, but honestly, it doesn't need to be. The remastering is perfect for the music.

Wow. Well this has been a very long time coming. Of course, two CDs won't cover Cher's releases and for the insane Cher fans - well, you will have to wait for the box set. This GOLD CD, however, is a gem. I have NEVER heard ALFIE sound like this I had to play it 5X in a row and then it rocks right into this amazing remaster of THE BEAT GOES ON - I didn't know how my speakers picked up this clarity.Geffen somehow secured the rights to these recordings to RE-RELEASE them after Cher's multi-platinum THE VERY BEST OF CHER that coincided with the winding up of her outrageously successful Farewell Tour. The European version of her hits was a 2 disk affair that had a lot of wonderful Cher hits.THIS CD has most of Cher's top 40s but most importantly it is chronological and so there is a beauty in hearing the vocal changes stylistically, artistically and age encumbering that have made Cher one of the greatest vocalists of all time. She deserves this type of treatment. The songs are remastered so amazingly you will wonder why we had to hear them in their previous versions - is is THAT GOOD!The clarity is amazing. Buy this for yourself and a friend. Everyone secretly (and not so secretly) loves Cher.Cher is amazing.

The Cher Gold cd is a great collection of all the songs one loves to hear her sing. The cd sound quality is good.

The tracks on this cd do show the evolution of Cher sans the Warner years of the mid 70's,her Columbia "I Paralyze" venture,and the omission of her solo "Jackson Highway" 1969 Atco lp.But to be honest, those tracks were not hits,and these tracks nicely illustrate Cher the pop icon we ALL know.But as others have said most of these tracks are out and easy to acquire.A box set of hard to find material would be in order.I love Cher but this set is nothing to get too crazy about,especially following the very successful "The vey best of Cher".

Although I do subscribe to the great service of Amazon Music Unlimited, I still rely on CDs too. The ease of purchasing my various music from Amazon is very simple. Go for it.
