Does this work on a 26in HBC bike

If the current bike already has v brake mounts on the fork and frame, then these vbrakes should bolt directly in its place.

Will these work for my trek 820 mountain bike

The correct answer is 'Maybe." Trek 820s were introduced in the late 1980's and for many years did not have V-brakes like these BR-T4000. The pull length on the levers and the braze-on where the brakes attach may not be appropriate depending on the year of your bike. More recent 820s do have v-brakes, and these shimanos will work on those. I strongly suggest you google image bicycle brake types and see if your current brakes are center pull caliper (common on 820's), side pull caliper, cantilever or v-brakes like these.

It is exactly the same as the front v-brake. It will fit, if you have bosses on the rear seat stays & they are spec’s for this v-brake size.
