Item is as described and arrived very quickly. The most important thing is - it works! I used it twice already in conjunction with the drop trap and have been able to catch ferals and their kittens at the same time. Got Mama fixed and the kittens found good homes! This really works as a transfer and is well made and easy to use! Thank you!

Works well
I have been engaged in cat rescue and TNR (Trap/Neuter/Release) for five years. This transfer cage, and its accompanying stainless steel drop trap, are the equipment of choice for this work. The cage mates perfectly to the drop trap and is small enough make things easy when transferring the trapped animal to a larger, 2-door trap for a visit to the vet. Both products are well-made, and safe for both you and the animal when used correctly.

Great in combination with the Tomahawk Drop Trap, only ones I will ever use.
The transfer trap along with the Tomahawk drop trap worked like a charm. You need both for the trapping to work. We had been trying to catch 2 cats who kept breeding for the past 4 years in the traditional live traps, with no luck. We were able to get the kittens, but not these 2 smart adults. After we got the drop and transfer trap we got them both over the past 2 Sunday's and were able to get them spayed/ neutered and then returned to their colony. The benefit to the drop trap is you only pull the rope to catch a cat that you actually want to trap. You are in charge. I don't know how many times the other traps would catch an already neutered kitty, and once the trap doors go down, it scares the cats away from the trap for the day. The transfer trap is easy to herd the cat into after catching in the drop trap. It is also less cumbersome to carry than the others. Highly recommend this. Also, use Kentucky Fried chicken for the lure, irresistible to kitties.

Works Seamlessly with Drop Trap
Must need for the Drop Trap by Tomahawk. Clips easily with the drop trap supplied clips and is a tight fit as to not lose the critter during the transfer.

She is spayed now and happily returned to her community and will no longer add ...
I do TNR (Trap Neuter Return) in a feral cat community. I used to spend much time trying to lure them into carriers and traps. I came upon the Tomahawk Drop trap and transfer cage searching for answers to the trapping problem. The two items together work flawlessly. From a distance I can drop the trap on a particular cat still needing to be spayed, cover the drop trap, position the transfer cage (which hooks onto the drop trap). Raise the two doors, the trapped cat then runs to the light (the uncovered Transfer Cage) I immediately slide the doors down on the cage/drop trap. Done! Another feral caught for TNR. with this system, I was able to trap a very wild female I had been trying to catch for 3 years. She is spayed now and happily returned to her community and will no longer add to the feral population. I highly recommend this investment for anyone involved in TNR.

It's fine, but read why a baited trigger drop transfer cage is probably better.
Cage is well made and joins easily with Tomahawk's drop trap for transfer. However... I didn't realize when I ordered that they also make a transfer ready cage that is ALSO standard small animal trap with bait in back / foot drop door trigger, and it's not much more expensive (though I don't see it here.) This seems far more practical as it's not necessarily easy to get the animal into the transfer cage. They recommend for this cage a method that requires huge dark blankets to block all light, assuming when you uncover the trap cage, it will run into it sensing the light means escape. One cat I trapped did not fall for it - since the transfer cage is added only after they are trapped in the big drop trap, they see you doing this and might avoid it. I had to scare it into the cage with sound from an electric leaf blower (not as loud as gas ones) and had to enlist a neighbor to slam the door behind the cat once it retreated to the cage - it seemed very possible the cat would reverse and leave the cage again before I get the door, especially if it jams a bit, which does occur pretty commonly. I figure get the trigger trap, solves all the problem. The animal can calm down in the drop trap with you not around, and will trigger the baited trap on its own - no fast moves or immediate tending required. AND if you have use for a trigger doored trap on its own - some animals don't need to be manually drop trapped - it's more versatile. Much more practical imo.

Good product.
I had to return it because it didn’t fit on my Tomahawk drop trap, otherwise it’s a good product.
