Adafruit Quality & Software & Blanket ble-packet grabbing
It's an amazing unit, I installed mine into an old rtl-sdr v.1 metal housing with some foam around it. Adafruit threw a plugin together for Wireshark that's easy to find install and get this up and capturing within 10 minutes. Absolutely best, most reliable way to ble-packet capture. You will NEVER experience those random bluez crashes, bluetooth process getting killed. This thing will go all day long and never miss a packet. If you have the use case. get one and you won't have to worry for quite a time if you use or make a solid housing for it.

Works as advertised!
First of all this thing does what it promised to do and that's the most important part. Sure it would be great if it was better supported under Linux or MacOS or both, but alas, that's not really promised and you can get a (much more expensive!) UberTooth if you cannot live without great Linux support. Do closely track usage instructions from the AdaFruit website - that means do get the same version of WireShark in particular, since 2.x release doesn't appear to be working in my experiences. It even worked great in VM which is not recommended. This little device worked wonders for me, sniffing BT LE traffic between a phone and a device I was trying to write an alternative app for. I did need to place device and the phone close together and also place the Bluefruit practically on top of the phone. Watch out that the many lights on the Bluefruit light up as yousniff the traffic, since sometimes right after pairing something goes wrong and sniffing stops, save frustration and restart the sniffing process early when you see the lights going off!

Some good insight, but needs improvement.
Essential tool but a few nits. You can't update the software in it easily, and it cannot track any device that uses random connection addresses.

Not quite there yet. Not up to Adafruit's normal standards.
Using this on a mac is painful! It doesn't allow real-time streaming of the info into WireShark. You have to log it, then go look at the logs. Good luck trying to sync messages like button-presses without being able to see where they happened in the stream! Making matters worse, they've made several revisions to the board, but they don't clearly state which is which. For instance, there was a 'blue' version (the earlier version) which they say they replaced with a 'black' version that doesn't have certain headers. Well I have a black one that has the exact same headers as the blue version. While the product page says they made that change, the instructions page says the one with the headers uses one type of driver while the one with the black mask uses a different set. Um... mine is black and has the headers? Is it the old, or the new one? I don't have a microscope to read the chip on it so it's all just trial-and-error to get this thing working. Long story short... Adafruit usually has great product quality and excellent documentation. This kinda feels like it's more Subtractafruit because it still needs work.

Worth the effort required to install
You do want to make sure to read and follow the somewhat involved software download and install information on the Adafruit website. With that done, it (almost) "just works". The one thing I needed to do was to enable (View/Interface Toolbars/nRF Sniffer) the Nordic nRF toolbar in Wireshark (if you're only seeing broadcast packets, that's what is missing). Once you do that, you can look at either broadcast or connected frames. An invaluable BTLE troubleshooting tool for small money.

Connect this prodcut up to Wireshark and you are good to go.
This is an Adafruit product very well made and designed The team at Adfruit make very good products and appear to care more about the consumer than the profit. Very impressed would buy again. I love Adafruit checkout their site for ideas on how to implement this product.

Junk
Couldn't flash it on two different computers. J-link wouldn't recognize it. The documentation is abhorrent. I'm no computer noob, and this piece of "hardware" just wouldn't play nice. Trash.

Easy to use, inexpensive Bluetooth LE sniffer
This worked perfectly for my application. I was able to sniff and reverse engineer the protocol my Bluetooth LE device was using and write a replacement. I used the windows software and Wireshark to do my analysis.
