How long will it run on batteries (assuming it doesn't detect water and shut the valve and sound the warning tone)?

· If there is no nearby 110V outlet and the low-voltage transformer that comes with each FS kit will not be used to power the FS system... then the 4 AA batteries within the controller will typically power the FloodStop for 1 year. When batteries get low, it will initiate a beep every minute. · If the FloodStop is being powered by its own low-voltage transformer and has 4 AA batteries inside the controller... the batteries will stay dormant/unused unless there is a power outage... at which time the batteries will typically power the FloodStop for 1 year. What it the difference between FS3/4H-90 v4 and FS3/4H-90? The v4 product is more expensive. What is added for the additional cost?

The v4 version is the newest version of the Floodstop devices. This version of the unit has a new controller, and the valve is now lead free.

Will the washer become damaged if it tries to function with the water off?

Most washers will stop trying to function when no water is present. My machine will produce an error code, which is reset by turning machine off and on. So, no, most machines will not get damaged. The solenoid that opens valve to let water in will open, and after a while the machine will sense there is no water, and will shut down.
