These are the best clips for edge fastening wood decking. We tried Tiger Clips and had to redo the entire deck because they don't hold. These hold the board.

The screw heads with this order were not black as advertised, they were stainless color. Now I am faced with buying more screws for $50++ and shipping since I did not open the order until past the return window. Update. I reached out to the vendor (DIY), and they arranged to have black head screws shipped to me by Deckwise. I have a feeling that all Deckwise products are drop shipped. Moral is to open and check your product when you receive it. Much thanks to the nice lady at DIY.

I build a lot of decks, sometimes with hardwoods such as Ipe. I typically face screw and plug hardwood decking, but I thought I could save some time and money and get a cleaner look with these hidden fasteners. First off, they're expensive. Time will tell if they have the holding power necessary to keep the ipe from moving, but I seriously doubt it after installing a few hundred sq ft. My main issue with these is that the instructions recommend sistering all joists where two boards meet. This is ridiculous and costly, and more than offsets any gains in efficiency you could have picked up from using these clips in the first place. With the price of lumber, the additional weight and effort of sistering joists on butt joints, I simply cannot recommend this product and will look into other fastening systems on future projects of just go back to face screwing and plugging my decking.
