1490 vs. 1470
Here is what I found to be the situation with the 1490 vs. 1470: If you have a 15 inch laptop, it will fit in either one, no problem. If you want a little added depth to maybe bring a power bank or your charger along, the 1490 will do it easily where you need use a little strategy and compromise with the 1470. Both are durable and Pelican known quality. To me, the 1490 just steps into the 'won't fit in my backpack or duffle bag easily' category. No big deal, but for some it may dissuade. I appreciate the roominess of the 1490 a little more than the 1470, not for the added foam protection, but for the placement of the laptop, power bank and charger. If you are thinking about the 1470 vs 1490, both will accommodate a 15 inch laptop (Toshiba Satellite) with ease, however even at a pound heavier and noticeably larger the 1490 won me over due to charger room.

Great case, perfect for a handgun, spare magazines and cleaning kit
I've used Pelican cases throughout my career in the Navy and knew there was only one choice when buying a case to store my new Sig Sauer P226 in. Shipping was quick and the case arrived as described. I can easily fit my gun, 4 spare magazines, and a cleaning kit in it. I haven't done any traveling yet with the case, but my previous experiences with other Pelican cases has always been positive. I trust Pelican with whatever I throw in the case and have another bigger case on order for my shotgun. The peace of mind is worth the price.

Peace of mind for my gear
I have travelled countless miles with this thing and always feel comfortable with my work computer in it. Flights, road trips, all of the above.

Perfect for a small can collection
I've had this case for some time now. It works great to transport the suppressor collection. I wanted one case for all of the silencers and the various accessories. As you can see, this left me enough room to get cans #7 and #8 in there once they're out of jail. You can also keep copies of the trust and stamps behind the piece of foam in the lid. I've recommended this case to others who are venturing into NFA mufflers.

Awesome!!
My husband likes to beat up his breifcase (isn't careful about using it) lol . I have bought him so many !!! Someone recommended this and I bought the insert also for 30.00 . Best thing I ever did :) now we're both happy :)) Made very sturdy and is water resistant he can set it in a puddle nothing gets wet . Can't say enough good things about pelican products . Cost more than the samsonite but well worth it . Will probable never have to buy another breifcase :)))))

Protects your laptop from falling off moving vehicles
If you're hesitating on purchasing this, don't. This case saved me $2,000+. I'm in the National Guard and bought this to keep my laptop safe and dry on drill weekends should I need it for whatever reason. My last drill weekend, I left this in my Humvee while I had to go to a meeting. My crew had to move some stuff around inside the truck to make room and ended up setting my case with my Macbook Pro inside on the roof and forgot about it. They had to leave in a hurry and the case flew off the roof going about 25 MPH, tumbling end over end before finally coming to a rest. They quickly realized this and stopped to collect it. I met up with them a couple hours later and they told me the news. The case was a little roughed up, but didn't appear to have any catastrophic damage. I took my Macbook out and it booted right up from sleep, no damage whatsoever. I'm typing this review on the laptop, as a matter of fact. So if you need a case that is going to keep your laptop dry and will protect it from falling off moving vehicles, definitely consider this.

Bought Pelican case to take laptop to Afghanistan
My son wanted a Pelican laptop case to protect his computer for the trip to Afghanistan. So I measured his laptop and ordered the appropriate size. The problem is, there is no room for his charger and the battery has to be removed to fit into the case. That is the reason this product got four stars. Otherwise, the case does what it is supposed to do and that is to protect the computer. It is a well made product, lots of protective foam and it locks.

Barely used this thing. Handle broke off.
It is an alright case, but the handle broke off after only using it for a few weeks. The only contents were a laptop and charger, not too heavy. Pretty excited about using it until i go to pick it up and the handle snaps off. Thanks. 10/10 would be disappointed again.

A little expensive, but definitely worth it for the hardness it offers. Plenty of interior space combines well a rugged exterior, keeping even the most delicate eggs safe in the back of a 2 and a half ton truck.

the locking mechanism is weak, the space is just enough to host a 17 inch laptop but the narrow margin seems like it is less protective from vibration. it works however i wish they would get one of these laptops that are getting so popular and make a solution that is tailored with better security features.
