Muir Glen Organic Tomato Paste, 6 oz. (Pack of 24)

I am a person who avoids canned food at almost all instances. The main reasoning behind this is the BPA concern. I am sure most people have already heard about it but for those who are not familiar, BPA is an endocrine disturbing chemical found in most clear plastic items as well as canned food linings. This chemical supposedly leaches into food especially at high heat or acidity and may end up some physiological problems in the body, especially growing children are more vulnerable. Since I heard this I put glass jarred products above all and eliminated canned stuff almost 100% from my shopping lists. However recently some brands moved to BPA free cans so that made me reconsider my hate towards canned food. Although I still believe that the best can is far worse than glass, I gave this product a chance. All muir glen tomato products are in BPA free cans. You can observe it yourself just by looking at the lining of the can. If the lining is white or metal color, then it is a BPA can if it is golden,copper, orange (like Muir glen) than it is a BPA free can. BPA free cans cost 2.2 cents more per can but I believe this has good impact on the total sales of the item so for a company it is still a good investment. Tomato paste is a life saver especially in winter months to add taste to your meals. I have grown up in mediterainen region where tomato pastes are part of daily life (mom used to make for herself but it is not that cost effective in USA) tomato is known to be treated with nasty chemicals which, without proper washing, would get into the paste and concentrate in it so I wanted to buy an organic variety (eliminates most of the chemicals) and this item is great in that aspect as well There are four selling points for this item : 1- Very tasty (can be among the top tomato pastes I have ever eaten) 2-Very affordable (1 can around 70 cents) good deal with subscribe and save (price has been consistent for over 6 months which is an extra plus) 3-BPA free can 4- Organic Recommend this product wholeheartedly for everyone...

I’m not one of those people who that think everything needs to be organic. I want my food to be delicious. Muir Glen tomato paste helps me make delicious food. If your recipe requires only a small amount, just use cling wrap to cover the remaining paste in the can (press the film down to actually touch the paste) and it will keep for a couple of weeks in the ‘fridge. If a dark crust does develop on the surface of the paste in a can stored open, just scoop it off as the paste below it is fine. And, this stuff freezes well too. I like to keep some frozen in 2TBLSPN increments as that seems to be about what I use. I like the Muir Glen cans themselves (the actual can) as they are designed to stack securely. You can stack them three or four tall securely making storing a case easier. Speaking of cans, my cases have always arrived perfectly, never a scratch, much less a dent.

This tomato paste is good. It is organic and has no sodium, so we are likely to purchase it again since it can be used instead of jarred spaghetti sauce which is usually high sodium. It also comes in a non-BPA can, another plus.

Muir Glen products are good. I have tried many varities and they always shine. Tomato paste is thick & rich with robust tomato flavor. Yes, these cost more but hey, you put this in your body! Mangia!

First, there are no added basil or spices to this tomato paste so Amazon description is wrong. Consult the label. It's an organic product that has the tastiest flavor of any tomato paste I've ever had with no excessive sharpness or bitterness, just great tomato flavor. Second, organic no-salt tomato juice si impossible to find so I make my own from this product. Just add one can to two cups of water and blend for 10 seconds, Add a splash of lemon juice and hot sauce for a healthy drink that will keep your prostate gland normal due to the lycopene content.

Great flavor. So much better than other brands. I make a recipe from my grandmother. I have always loved the sauce. Muir Glen Organic paste makes it so much better. I have done back to back taste tests with store brands. It is worth the extra money.

I buy Muir Glen fire roasted tomatoes ever since I ate at an Italian restaurant and their sauce tasted so so great. It beat my home made sauce by a mile. Came home, tried Muir Glen and wammo, my sauce was as good as anything I have tasted. But the tomato paste is just not available. I bought it once then it disappeared. Other brands are either not as good or just way way more costly than this case of the tomato paste.

Such an excellent tomato paste! It is thick, flavorful and yummy! I love the fact that it is organic and is in BPA free package! And just 2 tablespoons of it is a serving of vegetables! I use this paste for sauces, soups and dips. Sometimes I just eat it with a teaspoon from a can :) The taste is very delectable, it is that of a true, ripe tomato.
