BT Openreach NTE5C MK2 Master + MK4 Faceplate + Back Box - Combination Socket for Fibre Broadband + Filtered Telephone Main Line BT431a for Phone RJ11/RJ45 Data (5c Mark 2 + 4 + Surface Mount)

Had an issue with our telephone/internet connection and BT advised issue is internal connections not BT Line( which proved to be incorrect) However, as we had an older style box, purchased this as a replacement (although it transpired there was no issue with the old box) this works much better - box is quite deep, so some people may not like this, but that's because it now incorporates a test point connection, with an outer casing that can be removed with out disturbing the internal wiring connections. It also has direct connection for the separate internet cable (RJ45) so no need for an adaptor/adsl filter.

Easy to install inserted wires into slots A and B at the back clicked down . After research I found it doesn't matter which wire goes to A and which goes to B. Saved myself money doing it myself instead bt .

This BT Openreach NTE5C is a definite improvement on the old system. With this new face plate there are separate sockets for phone and Internet so there is no need for microfilters. Simple to fit with clear instructions. Check if you need all the components. For example I did not need the back box and a kit without the back box would have been marginally cheaper. The internet does seem a bit faster in that pages seem to load quicker.

The quality of this item is good, connectability is significantly improved. Instructions are not clear - when adding an extension please be aware that the line will not work until the front of the unit is attached.

Great product, easiest box to install

The excellent product is let down by poor instructions. After some Googling I was able to figure out which wire went where..

Installation was straight forward. When connecting the phone to the test circuit, the sound is crystal clear. When plugging in the faceplate (which splits and filters the signal for broadband and telephone) the phone becomes very noisy. I removed the faceplate and used an old broadband/phone filter in the test circuit. The phone line still has noise on it but no where near as bad as when using the faceplate. Clearly the quality of the built I filter is poor. I had expected a perfect solution from the latest tech but this unit is a retrograde step. Researching on the internet suggests this is a widespread issue and people are reverting back to an earlier model which doesn't have this problem. As an IT engineer this product, in my humble opinion, fails to meet the minimum requirements for line noise and will comprise your broadband experience.
