Yes, you do have to wreck the originals to get em apart, but the new ones are just clipped together. I don't remember exactly where the clips are but I think I watched a video on YouTube about. All very easy once you see the video

If thus is the fob type for your car you would just have to change the blades over, insert the electric board over from your old fob to the new one and it will work, as long as your old fob was working before change over.
