LOW COST DAYLIGHT, BRIGHT WHITE also helps with SAD
Never thought I would be writing a review for light bulbs. But because of all the irrelevant, uninformed and nit picky negatives I am writing this one.Shipment came boxed and wrapped in double layer bubble wrap with no broken bulbs. All worked.Daylight CFL bulbs are normally very expensive compared to standard warm white or white CFL's. These 4 bulbs are a bargain delivered for $11 plus no sales tax. Most of you know that already. These are 5000K on the color spectrum which better reproduces daylight than the standard white at 6500K. These bulbs start-up the same as other CFL's in that it takes a few minutes to get to full brightness.Much more light than than standard warm white (2700K)Basics of CFL colors: 2700K is warm white, 3200-3500 is white. 5000K (this bulb) is the closest to daylight color, so it's bright natural white. 6500K is (bluish) white but higher on the visible light spectrum and not as good as the 5000K (daylight).Bulb life: I have been using CFL's for about 8 years now. I've used many brands from cheap to moderately expensive. All brands I've used have about a 10-20% failure rate after a month or 2. None last their rated life. Bulbs fail earlier when they are frequently turned on and off. These daylight bulbs can help with SAD (seasonal affect disorder) where the shorter days of winter and cloudy weather cause mild to moderate depression for many people.SAD (seasonal affect disorder)My first use of these bulbs is in the bathroom. I have a light fixture that takes 4 of these. WOW!! What a difference these make over the warm white bulbs. You can really can see yourself and skin color etc as you would look in natural daylight. The 4 bulbs (240W equivalent) will also help my SAD on workdays I have no time to sit in front of my SAD lamp. The wattage in my bathroom (240W) is high enough where I get a good dose of natural light every morning.I will buy this brand again if the price continues to be competitive and they are still available.Sold by: DEALS AND MORE Fulfilled by AmazonUpdate: I've been using these bulbs in my bathroom for almost 2 years. Still working great.

Let There Be Light - 'daylight' indoors!
I think that we all have specific likes and dislikes, and that carries into the light bulbs that we choose for our homes. Some folks may prefer the warmer, yellow tones that traditional light bulbs provide, but my preference is to have a clear, bright light. I like to trick myself into believing that I am enjoying a bright, sunny day during the depths of the wet, grey winters that are the norm for where I live. When GE came out with their "Reveal" bulbs I was pretty excited, and soon had replaced all of the yellow light bulbs in the house. I had not found the perfect light bulb until I tried this most recent light bulb iteration, the 'daylight' ,5000k bulbs. I was finding that I could not see well in my bathroom and decided that I needed to try daylight bulbs in there. I needed 7 bulbs and ordered two packages of these Ecosmart bulbs to try. I have tried other brands of 'daylight' bulbs in the past and find them very pleasing, but the light that this brand provides seems to be a bit realistic and bright to me.Voila! I really could not believe that a simple light bulb could make such a difference. These bulbs tout that they provide true 5000k lighting, and they do! Truth in advertising. Amazing. What I was the most surprised at was that I replaced my old 60 watt bulbs with these and, aside from having a wonderful , true,'daylight' effect, the intensity of the new bulbs is amazing. It seems that I get much more light from these 60 watt equivalent bulbs than with any other that I have tried.Obviously, I cannot comment on longevity yet. I have not found that other brands last as long as they are 'supposed' to. Even if these don't last as long as they might I am so happy with the clarity of the light that I would buy them again.Simple pleasure for a simple mind. These are very effective and, if you prefer a daylight effect indoors then these are the bulbs for you to try.

So far, so good (even great) ...
i purchased these bulbs on 12/23/14 and so far they are working out great in my kitchen. it's so nice to be able to see everything so clearly. since I read that turning cfl bulbs on and off too often can shorten their life, since installation, I've left my kitchen light on 24/7 to see what the outcome will be regarding lifespan. seems to me these bulbs are doing a great job, since they've been turned on nonstop from 12/26/14 to 03/22/15 (today)!! that's 3 months nonstop lighting and still going strong. if they make it another 3 months, i'll be happy and won't mind replacing my kitchen lighting twice yearly. if they make it for a whole year of 24/7 usage, i'll be even more happy! i think it's ridiculous for the manufacturer to give such a long life span to these bulbs by using around 3 hours per day as normal usage. just a guess, but it seems that the stress of turning these bulbs on and off too often is what shortens their life, and I'm in and out of the kitchen all day long (and sometimes into the night), so it only makes sense to just leave it on (even avoids the warm-up time).let me just say that I don't like these cfl bulbs in the first place and am still using regular incandescent bulbs in most of my lamps. with these cfl's, there seem to be too many choices in color temperature, etcetera, and too many choices make it difficult to find the right bulbs. also, the manufacturers aren't always clear with their packaging as to exactly what they are selling. and I really don't like the learning curve on nearly everything we need to buy nowadays. :(
