Equipment impacts performance. Bad equipment may even impact player attitude toward a sport. This is especially true for the rookie player. Yet, high prices are not a guarantee of high quality gear. Fortunately, the lacrosse market is small and specialized enough (the big 3 are Warrior, Brine and STX) for most of the equipment to be competitively priced leaving customer preference as the main issue. All the sticks between the three brands were similarly priced, but we chose the Brine Recruit X Complete Lacrosse Attack Stick largely due to the 33 reviews posted on Amazon as well as comments posted on lacrosse discussion boards. The 6-sided aluminum shaft provides a comfortable grip (watch out for the uncomfortable 4-sided rectangular shape) with the center balance just above the midline of the stick despite the pocket weight. In other words, this stick isn't top heavy or difficult to handle. Out of the box, the netting was stiff so make sure to break in the pocket before game day.Brine sticks have eye-catching designs printed, not wrapped, right onto the shaft which has held up with only minor chipping despite a full season of practice and games. The aluminum material has likewise held up well in rough play without denting or bending. Aluminum is the preferred shaft for new players, who play both offense and defense, due to its durability and light weight. If you are introducing your son to the sport of lacrosse, this is a great starter stick.

Excellent for price point
My husband is 73 and played competitively on a club team till he was 43. He still works out today with a stick on a handball court in NYC. He wears the stick out the cradle part but he's a strong guy! He reweaves so it would be nice if the cradle stiteching was more resilient but overall he loves the stick. Go BRINE!

Eh
The stick is okay to start but after a few months of playing you should get a nicer one. The stick is overall to heavy and the mesh on it sucks.

i would not recommend...
Ok...this is an ok stick. The shaft is nice for beginners but I would not recommend this because of the head. Its too wide at the middle of the head and causes you to not make a good pocket. If you don't know what a pocket is its the netting where it is made into a cup shape to catch and hold the ball easier. I know its for beginners and when I was a beginner I had it I hated it because I couldn't keep it in the pocket while cradling it. I would recommend starting with a stx deuce head which is what I have now I love it best head I ever had. I have a warrior standard shaft just because it works for me and if it gets messed up I don't care. But overall this is ok its not great if your serious about wanting to play and you need a stick for try outs I wouldn't recommend get something a step up like an intermediate stick.

Great stick for dad
My daughter play on the H.S. Lacrosse team. About 5-6 years ago, when she started playing, I needed a stick so we could play catch. This does the trick and it lasted about 5 yrs until she threw me a fastball that I didn't catch cleanly and the basket cracked. I headed to Amazon to check out sticks. This is pretty much the same one I bought 5 years ago but was 1/2 the price. Works great!! It's not a toy, but a real stick.

Good beginners Lacrosse stick
We have a grandson just starting to learn the basics of Lacrosse. We looked for a stick at the local big box stores but did not find anything in our price range. We purchased this stick and he is having a good time with it. So far it meets all our needs. We think this is a good stick for beginners.
