I am trying to understand why they have a shelf life... what expires in the filters over time?

The molecular sieve, a form of zeolite, allows oxygen molecules to pass but captures nitrogen and other gases. The captured gases are then released and disposed of by an electric reversal of the materials polarity, and a new cycle of oxygen flow initiated. Due to some chemical changes in the zeolite caused by the reversal of polarity, and contamination by trace elements, the efficiency of the whole process slowly degrades over time, until a sufficient concentration of oxygen can no longer be performed. The exchange of new zeolite (in a cartridge form) restores the process to its desired level of efficiency.

So my G5 unit was unused for over a year and now I’m getting column replacement notices. It’s because it’s been idle for over 6 months ?

Either sitting too long or the fact it is a year old. Both are indicators to definitely replace.

How do I know that the new columns are working? I could not get the message that the exchange was successful.

I wasn’t sure my new columns were working either. Called Inogen 800 number and they walked me thru the setup.

Does anyone have instructions for upgrading the ingen g5 so you can change air cleaners at home instead of sending the unit to the factory?

The inogen One G5 Colum Pair RP-502 I ordered came with directions and it was very simple for me to change. There is a video on U-tube also.

Needed Replacment for Used Up Cartridge

Needed to buy a replacement for the original column in the Inogen G5 that my wife uses. This one works fine and it's a little bit (but not much) cheaper than going directly through Inogen even though it is their column but that's kind of typical with medical stuff. Easy to replace.

was a little scared to purchase on here. but glad I did. price was really good. yes, will buy again from here.If I could give it a 20* I WOULD THIS IS A DOUBLE REVIEW. I just reordered it so i have my backup. i purchased my INOGEN OFF A FRIEND . SO, I have to buy my parts . warranty's are non-transferable.

This Oxygen column is perfect for the Inogen One G5.

This oxygen column is a perfect fit for the Inogen One G5 Oxygen machine. I had a lot of trouble figuring out how to install it, but that was simply because I did not notice the black rubber tips on the top ends of the column. They are hard to see because they are the same color as the column. If you install these into your machine those black rubber tips will end up in the machine and you will not be able to see them or even remove them since they will get stuck in the machine. I had to go to a local Oxygen machine repair place to have them removed, then they installed the column and everything worked perfectly. My suggestion to the company that manufactures these is to make those rubber tips a different color, such as orange or yellow. Then they would stand out and this issue would never affect your customers. I was lucky that the repair center did not charge me to remove those impossible to see rubber tips. The only way I was able to find out that those tips became stuck in the machine was because I found a YouTube video explaining this since other people apparently are also having the same problem. Please get this fixed thank you.
