Cold steel has done it again with the Cold Steel Peace Maker Tactical Fixed Blade Knife, Very nice, made with quality German 4116 steel. Sharp impressive feeling in hand, comes with a secure x sheath. The sheath is for Right or left carry, only complaint I have is the sheath as it has full slab on inside and out so when you grab the knife it can cause pressure to keep knife in. Over all this is a very nice utility knife for use in everyday carry when working the ranch. Although I am not a fan of the sheath, this is a GREAT Value at this price, and I recommend this knife enough that I will get a second one for camping.

The Peace Maker II really surprised me. The fit and finish are outstanding, the blade came razor sharp, and the knife feels much more substantial than I expected. The edge retention is comparable to 420 HC, but it is very easy to sharpen and takes a keen edge. Unlike many other reviewers, I actually like the sheath. My only criticism is the clip. It is extremely stiff, and it isn't quite as big as I would like it to be. Aside from this minor niggle, the knife is a homerun. In fact, I just ordered the Peace Maker III, which is the Peace Maker II's little brother. Update 1: I removed the clip and used a screwdriver to expand it ever so slightly. The modification took less than three minutes, and now the clip has perfect tension. Update 2: I've owned this knife for six months, and now I give the sheath even higher praise. It takes a little bit of practice, but once you figure it out, it is very easy to deploy the knife. The basic steps are: 1) hold the handle while the knife is in the sheath just like you would if you were using it to cut, 2) loosen the grip of your first three fingers but maintain the grip of your pinky at the end of the handle, 3) pull the knife out of the sheath. When you do this, the handle is positioned perfectly in your hand. You don't need to adjust your hand at all. This is an important feature in a defensive knife sheath, and in my opinion, Cold Steel nailed it.

The steel is German 4116, which is mainly what you'd find in a run of the mill kitchen knife which is functional steel but otherwise rather unimpressive, and it did arrive razor sharp out of the box without any rolls or nicks along the edge and that's far more than I can say for some knives for the same cost so it's a quality blade. JoeX did a destruction review on Youtube, and I agree with the results the knife appears to be ill suited for hard tasks such as a survival knife. You're not going to use it for throwing or for chopping through nails without damaging it, but as a straightforward cutting tool for normal use it will do the job and I think it is also perfectly viable as a self defense knife. The tip and point is sharp, and it's going in anything fleshy and through fabric with ease. Not a lot to really talk about with the sheath. It's functional, and sleek enough to where you can clip it inside the pocket or even in the waistband and it will easily conceal. The two "wings" appear to be flimsy but despite do look like you can get some longevity out of this sheath if it isn't abused. My biggest critique is with the handle. For my hands, I found it to be on the thin side. I wish it had a little more girth, but the rubberized handle material does afford you a good purchase when you grasp that handle. All in all, I think it's worth the $25 I paid for it.

I've owned this knife for a while now and I was a little reluctant to like it, at first I couldn't figure out why, then I realized it was just that I was used to my Mora 2000 (Very similar blade shape and profile). The tip is just about center of the blade, whereas the Mora 2000 has more belly at the point. I was also a little thrown off by the squared handle shape, that is until I really had to use it wet and slimy. This thing is grippy as heck, I never felt like it would roll in my hand, or slip when it was wet or slimy (I was cleaning some fish with it). I started to use it a lot more when I took it along camping and kinda really started to like it. I don't use it as a boot knife, I just run a locking s-biner through the clip and hang it from a belt loop on my side. I can take it off easy, and it swings around enough to be out of the way when I need to sit down. When I tried to clip it to my belt using just the clip it was a very snug fit and really didn't move or swing at all, which was awful when you need to sit, and worse case it might pop off your belt. On the plus side the clip is VERY strong, it was designed for a boot carry, and I am fairly certain it would hold the sheath in place well if used in that manner. I would not think the number 2 model would fit in a boot well, it's fairly long and large, I would prefer the number 3 model for that since it is smaller. Overall this is a very good knife with a mildly convexed scandi grind that will cut through wood very well and will serve any other utilitarian purposes just as good. The blade is not super thick, but isn't so thin that I fear it might break under normal use, the thinner blade makes a better slicer anyway. It's thicker than the Mora 2000, and would stand up to more abuse than that knife. For the money I think this is a great deal, and if you want a midsize budget knife for a multitude of uses this is a win in my book.

Worked very well and kept its edge when dressing a deer...very sharp and easy to resharpen

My fist knife memories start about 1956 when grandpa O. gave me a miniature fake ivory handle keychain knife with the working edge ground flat and a chain that some years later would actually hold keys. By the middle of first grade, I already had a modest collection of three or four, being lovingly stored in a new cigar box still radiating the aroma of fresh cigars along with magnetic dogs, agates and several other long forgotten treasures. Over the years I’ve been fortunate enough to have experienced the joys of owning hundreds upon hundreds if not thousands of sharpened metal pieces in almost every conceivable size and shape. Three plus decades ago I bought dozens of knives when 1st introduced by Lynn Thompson. I remember watching the ads of them being stabbed into 55-gallon drums and then being used to shave arm hair. Absolutely true, every bit of it. As a general acknowledgement of what I consider a continued tradition of designing and manufacturing fine edged weapons and implements It’s my pleasure to wholeheartedly recommend your purchase of Cold Steel products.

I LOVE this knife. The only problem is that I bought it to be a dive knife. About the third 1 hour dive I found that the blade was rusting where the handle meets it. The manufacturer apparently made the handle so that water could get in between the handle and the blade. ( I had oiled the knife on the handle by putting a drop on the blade and guiding it to were the blade meets the handle but obviously it didn't help.) I contacted Cold Steel about a week ago but they have yet to reply. Other than that I love this knife. I love the handle grippiness and the full tang. I also like that it came tolerably sharp out of the box. Some say that it's razor sharp out of the box. It's not, I mean you can shave your arm if you like but I like my knives to be sharper than that. I took it to a Spyderco Tri-angle sharp maker and it's SHARP now. ( I'm actually afraid that if I touch the blade wrong, the the blade will keep cutting till it reaches the bone. Then I'll have to sharpen it all over as the steel is pretty soft.) I like the blade length and the scandi grind which works especially well when if you put a 40 degree edge on it with the Spyderco. I would not get it for water use but I think it would make a good bushcraft knife as long as you don't do much batoning or ANY prying. What ever the use I would keep it oiled and as dry as possible.

This knife feels nice in the hand. I like that the tang goes all the way to the end of the handle giving it tremendous strength. Nothing irks me more than trying to cut something tough and the knife breaks at the handle joint. The sheath is not so great though. If you push the knife all the way into the sheath it takes a strong pull straight up to release it. That might slow a person down if they need it fast. I only push the knife into the sheath deep enough where I feel it is secure but not hard to pull out. Cold Steel makes awesome knives and I have bought several of them. I keep this one in my car at easy reach and there have been times when I was glad it was there though it was not touched. It came very sharp. I bought one for my husband to keep in his car too. He likes it a lot.

Gostei tanto que comprei outra, não achei nenhum modelo de faca com esse tamanho que seja tão discreta quanto esse modelo, esse modelo é feito pra ser usado por dentro da calça ou bota, na lateral da cintura fica quase imperceptível, tem um fio excelente, um corte impressionante, não é uma faca pra uso pesado, ele não perde o fio dentro da bainha.

Das Messer ist schlicht, schick und liegt sehr gut in der Hand. Die Klinge ist extrem scharf und bombenfest in dem Hartgummigriff eingefasst. Kein Gewackel oder sonstiger Spielraum. Bei einer Länge von 14cm und einer Breite von nur 3mm ist die Klinge aus deutschem, rostfreien Stahl (4116) relativ dünn, aber trotzdem sehr hart! Die Secure-Ex Scheide ist aus Kunststoff, was mir gut gefällt, da das Messer so sehr sicher transportiert werden kann. Der Metall Gürtelclip auf der Rückseite der Scheide ist sehr stabil. Das Messer passt so perfekt und sicher an den Gürtel. Vielseitig einsetzbar und top verarbeitet! Für mich eine klare Kaufempfehlung!

Un buen cuchillo para uso en el campo y defensa, tiene un buen agarre en el mango con acabado tipo goma, el acero 4116 es muy bueno en este tipo de cuchillos ya que es flexible lo que ayuda a que el cuchillo no se rompa y a la vez retiene bien filo

I sure didn't expect a knife at this price point to be THIS sharp out of the box. This is a great knife to carry - it's light, very well made, pretty flat (takes little space), and comes with a nice sheath. Handle is very ergonomic despite being pretty flat. Not as sturdy compared to something like Mora Garberg, but equally nice and useful in it's own way. Love it, will buy more once the price is right again.
