McDavid Elastic Elbow Support

Most of my elbow pain over the past 10 years or so is due to advancing age and a 3x/weekly regimen of weight lifting/training. I'm not an authority on orthopedics or, obviously, a physician but do know a thing or two about lifting weights, having done that for the past 40 years or so. It's a double edged sword effect at some stage in life for most all people which is to say the benefits of weight training have to be sorted out against the pain it creates in various body parts. The tendons sometimes become inflamed, or worse, stretched or torn which results in an inability to continue without some mitigating factor to alleviate the pain. That's where the McDavid Elbow Support compression sleeves come in and do the job. I had been using those elbow support braces with the Velcro straps which were just OK but not quite the answer. THIS product returned immediate results the first time I put them on prior to a workout session and have done so consistently since. I used the basic guide others have listed here to help determine the size to order, then took it down a size because I wanted the maximum compression while still allowing for freedom of movement in the arms. I'm 6'4" and weigh in a 245 lbs at this writing, to give you a reference and ordered the MEDIUM size sleeves which work perfect for my needs. They really help eliminate the pain while providing the snug support to buoy my confidence in attempting the various weight lifting tasks including curls, forearms, pull-downs, delts and triceps disciplines. If you're a tennis player and have the dreaded 'tennis elbow', I'd certainly try these sleeves. We all need a little help from our friends to get through life on occasion and McDavid's product profiled here is my latest buddy.

I ordered the medium size and it arrived one day before the expected delivery date, I love when that happens. I've had some type of tendonitis in my elbow that had been getting increasingly worse. I am a dart player and throw a lot of darts which I think caused some type of repetitive stress issue. For years, I've had a "click" in my elbow when I throw a dart, but it never became painful until a few months ago, I assumed it was something like "tennis elbow". Anyway, I thought a sleeve like the ones I see NBA players wearing might help, I've worn compression braces on my knee in the past and thought this might be a good idea. I read all the reviews of similar products here on Amazon and this one seemed like the best value for the price, I paid about 10 bucks, which is about the most I was willing to pay to try this out. I ordered a medium and it was not too tight, I have pretty average arm circumference, not too muscular nor too skinny. This sleeve is very comfortable and provides a very nice tight level of compression. My elbow feels very stable with this on. I have tried throwing darts with it on and it really minimizes the pain I was feeling at the end of full arm extension where my tendons would feel like they were being scraped against a rock inside my elbow. It also seems to give my arm a bit more elasticity, the compression helping my forward throwing motion, like my arm had a spring or an elastic assisting the throw. The material is not like spandex or similar materials and is supposed to breathe better than other sleeves. It's summer here right now and very hot anyways, so it's hard for me to judge this, but it doesn't seem to cause as much sweating or heat discomfort as I recall my old knee brace did. All in all, I'm very happy with this, my only concern being how long the product will last before it becomes loose or loses it's compression. I'll find out in time, I guess, but I would buy this product again. This is my first experience with the McDavid brand (they only seem to have futuro in stores around here), and I'm impressed, especially for the price.

I have had tennis and golf elbow for about 4 years now mainly in my left arm - until recently. After having tendonitis so bad in my left arm I began to compensate with my right arm more and now I have problems with the right arm (the reason for ordering another one). I bought my first Mcdavid sleeve 3 years ago and have literally worn it almost every day. Always during work and always during any physical activity, even cleaning windows or dusting things in my house. I have washed it countless times and it has never lost it's elastic strength. I wear it in the sun and it's still dark black. I love the fact that it stay put and doesn't move at all during the time wearing it. It's not too bulky and can easily be worn under shirts and jackets. Long sleeve shirts can be pulled over it unlike some braces with velcro straps. Any product that performs perfectly for several years without any sign of failure deserves a good review. Oh, I am 130 pounds, with a 10 inch elbow and I use the small sleeve. Some reviewers say that it's too tight, but for me tight is good. It does leave some pattern markings in your skin if it's worn for 8 hours at a time, but it's not so tight that it cuts any circulation off. I can't recommend this enough. Also, if tennis elbow is really acting up and I'm going to do something that I know will hurt my elbow (mowing, washing cars, weedwacking), I can strap a tennis elbow strap on top of this sleeve and I feel no pain at all until I remove everything after the activity. A note, I have literally tried half a dozen different braces, sleeves, thin copper junk and this beats all of them. I might order 2 or 3 just to make sure I have one for years and years to come... Oh, I am not affiliated with the company or seller and I didn't get a discount on anything, I just love it when a product works.

Pros: Guys if you are an active body builder suffering from joint pain or tendinitis from repetitive motion then please do your self a favor and pick two of these up! I started experiencing severe joint pain on both of my elbows while doing P90X's shoulder, tri's and chest routine during weeks 4-7. I took two weeks off and during these two weeks did forearm strengthening exercises to help strengthen the elbow tendons. I got back into it and after the first day OUCH! both elbows sore again. So I decided I will not work out until I do something about it. So I picked these up and for me , wow no more pain! They also add body heat to the area and keep them warm. They are non constrictive so you can lift past 90 degrees and on. It has helped me greatly and I am glad I picked these up. So if you are having joint pain and need some relief do yourself a favor and pick these up. Quality is great for the price and about 20 bucks for both. CONS: They are pretty tight so make sure you measure around your elbow properly. If you are 11.5 and thinking about the mediums go with the size up. If you are 12.5 and thinking about the large go EXTRA LARGE you will be glad you did as they will fit better.

I dislocated my elbow about 8 months ago very seriously. I was in a splint for a while followed by 2 months in a brace that limited my movement. I also had to attend PT (physical therapy) twice a week for 2 months. I live a very active lifestyle and needed a way to work out. All weight lifting was ruled out for 2 months so I began to run as soon as my PT cleared me for aerobic activity. I could not run with the brace on even though my PT recommended I wear it ( it was bulky and heavy) so I purchased this support to wear while I ran instead of the brace. Without the support it hurt to run. All the bouncing caused pain in my injured elbow and it was too difficult to keep my elbow bent because I had lost so much muscle. With it on, my elbow was kept tight enough that the bouncing did not cause pain. It was still difficult at first to keep my elbow bent but definitely easier than without the support. Once I was cleared for lifting I started to do so, again while wearing the support. I still use it to this day. My elbow never fully recovered and unfortunately never fully will. I still have pains sometimes they day after lifting that are related to my injury. It is hard to judge how much this helps because I never lift without it but I believe it is helping. If nothing else, it is giving me the confidence to do exercises that I would not have to confidence to do without it. Overall, a great product. If you have an elbow injury, this will not make the problem go away completely but it will help with recovery.

UPDATE: This is not good for extended wear for everyone. I developed a terrible rash on my arm from wearing this all day. I did not wear it at night. I kept it on about 6-8 hours a day and now have a thick, itchy rash in the crook of my arm opposite the elbow. I may be allergic to wearing rubber next to my skin. I really don't know why it occured, but I wish I could return it as I will never use it again. _____________________________ I recently developed elbow issues related to weightlifting and arthritis. After reading the reviews about sizing here, I decided to try the large size for my 12.5-inch elbow. While it feels good to have the brace on, it only offers light support. It even says "LIGHT" right on the box. I will continue searching for something that can provide more support for weightlifting. If I wanted to use this model at the gym, I'd go down to a medium and only wear it during my workout. I'll keep it for longer wear.

Good compression sleeve. Make sure your size measurement is accurate.

bonne coudière, un peu serré mais tient longtemps dans le temps, j'ai eu 2 tendinites en l'espace de6 mois et la coudière a vraiment bien fait le job! elle ne se deforme pas! attention si gros bras, là çà peut coincer...

A good product. Almost like wearing a sweater tube around your elbows. For me the drawback was that I am a big person and the support fit sung (as it is supposed to). But when riding my superbike, it curled a little bit at the edges and this constrains blood circulation, and on the bike, one cannot his/her hands off the handlebar to adjust it.

Bien finie et très enveloppante pour l'hiver mon coude qui a subit une fracture de la tête du radius est bien au chaud et cela empêche qu'il craque quand le froid est là.

I tried 1/2 dozen elbow supports and this one fit so well, comfortably and provided the perfect amount of support that I purchased a second for my other arm.
