Q: Can the female plug be mounted to a panel?

Not from what I saw but they do have a different version that does. It is some very tedious soldering.

Q: will these work for the power connection on a skid loader?

Should work fine for a cable-to-cable connection as long as the wires aren't much bigger than AWG16... after soldering up a number of these I'd say 14 gauge would be pushing it. Speaking of soldering... it is a quite fiddly process, requiring more than just a cheap third-hand to hold the wires in alignment with the solder cups while they get soldered together.

The diameter of the outside of plugs biggest section is 37mm-38mm, you can use 14AWG(2 square mm) or 16AWG wire.
