I bought this as my previous (seagate) harddrive was used for my old Windows laptop and therefore not compatible with my Macbook. This one particularly appealed to me for the appearance (which is also made from recycled materials, ticking off another positive for it!) and it's compatibility. So far, it's been working great and transfers are very fast. It heats up a little bit if I'm using it for a while but I'm sure that's pretty normal for any HDD. This comes with a USB-C cable straight out of the box so it's compatible with any Macbooks with no USB 2.0/3.0 ports. While slightly expensive, it works well out of the box and is a great option for Mac users, providing a good amount of storage for the price!

I bought this to act as an on-site back-up for my computer. I've not had it long so I cannot make any useful comments about its durability. However, it was very easy to set up using the computer's Windows back-up system, it backs up my files daily, it appears to be running well, and I've had no trouble with it at all. I've not had to restore any files yet, but I have no reason to expect problems if and when I need to do so.

Why did you choose this product over others?:Have several smaller versions but was changing to windows 11 so backed up the entire pc to this just in case, after all it is MS! This devoured the multiple drive content from the computer and averaged good transfer speeds while doing so.Plenty space left and based on other drives think I'll have peace of mind when using it for storing other data.

Seems fine. It's one of those things that you just plug in and, hopefully it works and doesn't give you any trouble. So far (two weeks) so good. It is quiet. Sometimes I can hear a feint rushing sound coming from it but I guess that's only when it is busy. It runs cool. I'm using about 35% of it's capacity at the moment. When transferring files to and from my internal SSD it is definitely this one that limits the transfer speed but I guess that is to be expected. It was well packaged and arrived quickly.

Well built external hard drive, exactly what I would expect from Seagate. It's first task was backing up pictures and was getting consistent speeds of 180MB's. It's a bit noisy and likes to vibrate at random times and is a bit unnerving at first, so could do with being placed on an old mousepad or something to reduce that, but you get used to it pretty quickly. All in all a great product, highly recommended for the price if you need a lot of external storage.
