Review: A cheap way to get a quality essential element into your mix - Great quality and value, stands on its own as flexible synth for bright line stuff. Easy to get a wide range of quality sounds out of it within minutes. Absolutely can be made an essential part of anyone's desktop studio. Not just an alternative or a clone here but a fair competitor for essential roles in you music making.
Review: I love to CRAVE !! - I don't think I've turned it off since it came. What a wonderful time-waster! May actually be musical, too. Impressively built, sounds (to me) identical to Moog Mother, and very priceworthy. Controls are silky smooth and somehow the thing never "pops" when switches are flipped, etc. There is no background noise that I can hear. The 24dB ladder filter can self-oscillate and be played with the keys. The sequencer buttons are very click-positive, which is OK with me because I use an external keyboard for actually playing and just use the sequencer buttons when actually programming the sequencer. (Your ext. key controller can be used to enter notes but the other step parameters need to be entered at the CRAVE itself.) It responds to the velocity and pitch bend signals from the key controller. Manual is skimpy but there are some excellent demos and tutorials on YT. At first I thought six patch cables were too many because I could only figure out how to use 2 of them, but now, after watching some demos, I have used up to 5 at once to good effect. Still haven't figured out a 6-patch that makes sense though! I have it daisy-chained with an ancient Yamaha QY10 sequencer, playing the 30 instrument presets in the QY10 with the CRAVE sequencer and an old Oxygen8v2 key controller. My housemate thinks I've been replaced with an alien.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: The patch cables included: are they ts? how long are they? 12in, 18in, etc. thanks!**
A: I can’t remember if it came with x6 or x8 patch cables (I purchased extra), but they were sufficient for the CRAVE and additional cables weren’t necessary. The cables included with the CRAVE are 12”.

This device is a lot of fun! Good luck!

**Q: Is this thing polyphonic by itself? How many voices.**
A: The Crave is monophonic.

**Q: Can you save sounds that you create? If so, where? on the Crave or on a PC?**
A: You can save the sequencer patterns to the crave or export them to a computer. It will only be the notes and sequencer data though. The sound from the way you set the knobs will have to be written down to get the same sound.

**Q: Does the high pass filter closes completely for you or is mine malfunctioning?**
A: You will notice more/less change with it (and with other controls) depending on the settings of other knobs or patches. With some settings it will appear to do very little, with others you’ll notice a distinct change.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I love to CRAVE !!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Fun but dive-y
*by N***N on August 27, 2025*

Synth sounds good, but I find the menu and the sequencer interface to be a bit dive-y for my liking. If this is your first synth I'd recommend something with more apparent controls. I like the korg ms20 coupled with an external sequencer - that is an ideal setup to learn synthesis. If you are already comfortable with synthesis and just need a new synth to fiddle with this is a fun one, but it's going to take a while to get up to speed.
