Thats one reason they should not be removed from the razor or wiped down. They are coated with platinum, chromium, and PTFE (Teflon) **Q: Are these the same as the packaging with word Treet in white lettering and the the word platinum in blue letterting with blue line between the words?** A: From what I heard theses are better. **Q: How sharp are these on a 1-5 scale. say feather is a 5, kai 4, red personna 3, and derby 1.** A: I am unfamiliar with Kai or red personna, sorry. Feathers are the most aggressive blade I've used in my ebo jager. I do not like an aggressive shave. My technique results in too much bloodletting. Derbys were much less so. They also held their original edge longer, since they weren't as sharp to begin with. But the shave wasnt as close. Treets are in the middle. Give them a 3. Sharp, but no nicks at all. But you need 3 passes to get close. I get about 4 shaves before they can't get the BBS shave I crave. I could get 5 shaves if im not picky. I have a tough beard. So Treet is superior to Derby for me. But if you like Feather, and want an agressive shave, you will not like Treet. **Q: What are the best straight razors** A: The blades you are looking at are for Safety Razors which is the grandfather to the cartridge razors. To date my favorite and go to blade has always been a Merkur. Feather, 7 O'Clock (yellow and black) and Astra all ran closely behind. Wilkinson and Persona also make some very good blades and if any of the aforementioned blades were the only blade on the market I'd never complain. All that being out of the way, let me just simply say this, I've shaved but twice with the Treet Platinum. To this point (normally limit blades to 4 shaves) it is every bit as good as any blade I've ever used. In fact if the manufacturer were to ask for my advise on how to make the product better I could only say "throw in a happy ending or leave it the hell alone"! Fyi, the two shave thus far have been in a Merkur 34c and a 1952 Gillette Super Speed. WTG, AcTG and AgTG, with a 4th pass diagonally on my neck. The other 99 blades may suck and this one may only be good for two but at the price, I don't care.
