Barfly Ice Pick, Stainless/Black

Barfly M37062 Ice Pick Chipper. It's more like an "ice fork". I have a few other ice chippers: an ice pick, an ice hammer, and an ice tapper. This is the only one that really works. I used an ice tapper for years and it did a good job until the metal ball broke off, then an ice hammer that just made a mess, and an ice pick that is just plain dangerous and not very effective, especially when it goes straight through the ice and into the table... This one breaks up clunks much better without ice flying everywhere, you don't need to hit the ice as hard, just a bit more strategically. You can still hit the ice with so much force that it shatters the ice and keeps going through the bag or to the table, but nowhere near as bad as an ice pick. I've only used it on frozen bags of store-bought ice cubes, not on a big block of ice, but there is a metal cap on the handle so you could pound it with a hammer if necessary.

Gets the job done. I crush a lot of ice at parties and constantly get compliments on this ice mallet. Something about a big wooden mallet delights people.

These ice bucket tongs are a good value but they feel a bit thin in my hands. When they arrived, the teeth did not line up on the two sides because it was bent a bit. I was able to very easily bend it back to line up the teeth. They work well to pick up the ice. I made a video to show you. After a few uses one of the metal pieces flew right off. Surprised it lasted even as long as it did once I could see how it was assembled. There's virtually no surface area for the glue to hold onto, as it's only a curved piece of sheet metal glued down along the thin edge. A thicker gauge sheet metal could be enough to solve it, as both pieces are noticably dented and flattened. So it would be stronger and have more surface for the glue to hold. Or make a solid piece held in by a few screws around the outside. One review on here complained about the handle being plastic and not steel, but it should be floppy like it is so you can get a good thwack. Though the tapper should be strong enough to handle what it's dishing out. I bought it at a sale price so it's not a big deal to me, but I would NOT pay 8 dollars for this.

Didn’t even last the first ice cube… broke first use. Avoid.

Item had a barcode sticker along one side of the wooden handle. When removed it revealed a crack in the wood. I won’t be doing business these people again.

As I bought at 50% off I decided not to return, otherwise this would have been straight back. It had the issues a number of people have mentioned in reviews and more. The finish of the wood was terrible, barely any sanding. The fit of the blade, the blade within the sheath at tang etc had to be manually sanded by myself to fit it was so bad. The blade isn’t properly set in the handle, the blade although sharp was so poorly finished, cheap pressed blade with the edges out of the press not filed off. Clearly this is being cranked out in the backstreets of China, barfly are putting their brand on and charging likely 10 times the price in China. Truly terrible quality product compared to other barfly items I have bought. It has made me question buying the brand in the future.

It's a hammer. It's sturdy. Breaks ice pretty easily in a canvas bag.
