Perfect for polymer clay!
Although I'm sure the luthiers appreciate it, this product has been warmly adopted by the polymer clay community. Not all clear coats are compatible with polymer clay. Many can leave clay sticky, or worse: turning sticky over time. Brite Tone leaves a wonderful shiny finish that is a pleasure to touch, which is important to people like me who tend to fiddle with our pendants and earrings while wearing them. I use a soft brush and apply three or four coats, allowing at least 3 hours of drying time between coats. I hit the surface quickly with a small pressurized lighter flame to break any small bubbles. This finish is self-leveling...there are never any brush marks. Although I use other clear products for other techniques in my clay work, THIS is the only one I expect I'll ever use for a smooth, brilliant shiny finish.

Wow! This varnish is so versatile
I was using another brand of varnish that came from England. I wanted to use something that was made in the USA and found Crystalac. I am so glad I did! This product is superior to what I was previously using in that it has a higher gloss and it does not yellow, not even slightly! It is water resistant and highly heat resistant... I use it on trivets and coasters. It is fast drying and I can recoat in 2 hours which is a huge plus for me. I highly recommend this product to anyone that wants to have a durable finish but please see their website for applications.

Amazing product recommend- polymer clay friendly
100% pleased. Not overly viscous, no odor and water clean up- what’s not to like? It is a rather pale murky color in the container, really makes you question whether it will be clear once dry. Dried clear and hard. If you’re wanting a shiny professional finish this product will not disappoint. If you’re wanting a thick finish like traditional epoxy you’ll need to apply several coats. IMO this does not make it undesirable considering all the benefits it offers. Dries fast so if you were to bump the piece soon after applying it’s likely you will not ruin the finish. To apply additional coats follow directions. I make items from polymer clay. Polymer clay is notorious for interacting with adhesives and coatings then becoming sticky. This has yet to do this which is wonderful. I can’t use epoxy due to allergic reaction and UV resins are not always the best choice for a piece. I’ve used this for earring pieces and literally dipped the item in then monitored them for the drips and then wiped them off until the excess had run off. This has also been great for painting onto item which are larger. I can’t use apply as much or little as needed, something an epoxy or UV won’t do.

Product is good, but not cost effective for my needs.
After seeing so many people use this as an alternative to resin, I thought I would give it a try. It is more runny than I thought it would be, so you have to be very careful to just use small amounts and do several layers. I do resin pens with glitter and it took 9 thin layers. I did have some pooling at the bottom of the pen also. I applied it with a rubber finger tip at first but switched to a soft small brush after pooling. It helped a little but I still had it. The price is high, so after using I just switched to mini wax polyurethane. In comparison the pens look the same, same issue on pooling and same amount of coats. However, it was a lot cheaper and you get a larger amount. This product is good, but not cost effective for me. I will probably still use it, but maybe on smaller projects.

Poor results on first try. That was my fault. No harmful vapors!
My first experience with this was terrible. I had to strip it all off which was easy on flat surfaces because it pulled off in sheets. The corners took many hours to remove this not to mention the damage that had to be repaired after I finally got it off. There are no instructions from the manufacturer, instead they send you to a YouTube video at Highline Guitars. You think they would have suggestions on its application. Where did the guy in the YouTube video get his info? I really do not like trying new products because I work so hard to get to a point of applying a finish to possibly have to strip it all off and start over. The problem was I sanded it too soon and it peeled in one spot. You do need to wait about a week so it can cure properly. That said, I had applied this to another piece and waited a week then sanded and buffed. The final result was stunning. It was very close to nitrocellulose lacquer without the fumes, hassle and long wait time to gas off. I applied 5 coats 2 hours apart, waited a week, sanded with 1000 -3000 then buffed. No respiratory protection needed.

Top choice for a guitar finish
Just finishing a higher end guitar build with Bob Matthew’s and chose this as the finish. Super hard and beautiful glossy finish. Took it to Bowfinishing to sort out bits beyond my skill set and they were so impressed they are looking for a commercial supplier. Easy to apply, quick to dry, catches really well between layers as well as a nitro top coat doesn’t smell and give you a banging headache. Love it and would use again.

Good quality water based lacquer
This is a good product and I like it so far but you need a good setup for spraying water based lacquer
