Works like a dream
My switchโs old fan was on its last legs and I really donโt know what happened to it; I would play mainstream titles like Splatoon 2 or Pokรฉmon Sword and the fan sounded like a demon screeching, begging to be released from my switch. My switch would get concerningly hot, to the point I was afraid my switch would start melting if I played too long. Finally, I had enough and looked up how to replace the fan. The videos I found seemed straightforward with the main concern being that it is easy to strip screws, regardless of your tool quality. The fan got here relatively quickly, even though I live pretty far south, and the kit came with a tri-wing and a Phillips screwdriver, thermal paste, a sticker(Iโm assuming to help direct air? I didnโt use it), a single dry and wet wipe, a thermal paste spreader spatula, and the fan itself. I donโt think the kit came with written instructions or a pry tool(I did use a pry tool, and I canโt remember where I got it, but itโs not necessary, it just made it easier since I donโt have long nails; the spatula that came in the kit could be a pry tool but itโs not the one I used, as the kitโs looked more like the spatulas in thermal paste kits used for computers) but I prefer video instructions either way so I looked up a how-to. The kit gives you everything you need, and the thermal paste is more than enough to coat the top and bottom of the heat pipe if you decide to replace your paste while youโre changing the fan (highly recommended, as the paste is semi-crumbly once itโs re-exposed;highly recommend extra rubbing alcohol and cotton swabs if you do change the paste, but I didnโt use the wet or dry wipe at all so results may vary on cleanup). The fan fit nice and snug, and the fan I received came with its own rubber shock absorbers so you donโt have to transplant the old ones to the new fan, unlike some of the fan kits Iโve seen on some how-to videos. After sealing the switch back up, I ended up over-tightening the screw at the top of the switchโs chassis, causing it to strip the threading, even after hearing several warnings from others, so DO BE CAREFUL when tightening the screws. I turned my switch back on (make sure your switch is OFF COMPLETELY, NOT just on sleep, throughout the entire repair) and the fan ran so quiet, I thought it wasnโt working until I was playing Pokรฉmon Arceus a half-hour later and held my cheek next to the switchโs exhaust and felt the hot air gently coming out. It cools my switch perfectly and runs with no whirring or screeching. If you get this kit, make sure that your new fan has the little rubber pads where the screws go, as some sellers might have different variations of the fan provided in the kit, even if you buy from the same person. If it doesnโt have them, youโll have to move the old ones to the new one; itโs not hard, just something to keep in mind or else you WILL decrease the life of the fan and/or make the fan louder than it should be.

Fixed my overheating problem completely
My launch model switch fell and broke a bit quite a long time ago, and since then my fan unit was very slowly dying, evident by all of the noise it would make when running, and the fact that more recently, my switch kept overheating and shutting itself off for hours if I didn't close out of a game like Breath of the Wild every 10-15 minutes. I ordered this thinking that not only would a replacement fan help by quite a bit, the new thermal paste in the kit would help if the old thermal paste were also an issue (which other launch model switch users seemed to suspect in my cursory research). And after installing everything, I can confidently say my overheating problems have been solved! The fan is quiet (but audible if listening for it), my switch hasn't overheated once in hours of sustained playtime, and when I check the temperature of the air coming from the fan after playing for hours, it isn't even all that warm, whereas with the old fan, sometimes the air coming out would actually be uncomfortably hot. So overall a very effective product, especially since it comes with basically every tool you'll need to open and repair your switch! I say "basically" because I'd fully recommend you have your own pair of thin, accurate tweezers to handle ribbon wires, and your own supply of isopropyl alcohol and cotton balls/pads to clean up the old thermal paste. I didn't use the wet wipe that came with this product, but given how much of my own cleaning supplies I used, I highly doubt it would've been enough. But ultimately, this had all of the unique things I needed without buying multiple different products, and I'd fully recommend it to anyone in a similar boat as I was!

Save $50 or more and do it at home in half an hour
Easy to change with a youtube tutorial. Comes with everything you need. I already had a small screwdriver kit but I can't complain about having extra. Quieter and higher quality than the original fan manufactured with the switch.

Works great! Tool stripped a screw though.
Stripped a Y screw with the provided screwdriver. Could be the fault of Nintendo, could be this. Had to basically mess up the corner of the back case to get it open. But other than that, this is an excellent product so far.By following a popular YouTube tutorial, installing this was a breeze. I've built a PC, so I kinda figured this would be similar, but the relief I felt when I booted up TOTK and played it for 4 hours straight when the switch overheated with the old, dead fan within an hour was amazing. It's quiet, it works, and it comes with everything you'll need. (I did forget to put the black thing on the fan cuz the tutorial I used didn't mention it. Doesn't seem important for me personally? Idk we'll find out someday)I will not be replacing a fan again lol

It's a quiet fan, and it comes with everything you need to open the Switch and install it.
As stated, the fan is nice and quiet, even when it's ramping up when it needs to keep the console cool. The stock fan in my Switch was faulty and started making a bad grinding noise after a month or so of use, which is apparently a pretty common issue, so this replacement kit was an absolute lifesaver. This issue coupled with the dreaded Joy-Con drift and curved Switches makes you wonder if Nintendo has any sort of quality control team at all, it's absolutely pathetic. This kit comes with everything you need to install it, with some thermal paste as an added bonus, which came in handy because I didn't have any of my own. If you need to replace the fan in your Nintendo Switch, this is the kit to get.Unless you know what you're doing, you're probably going to need a guide. The guide I followed on Youtube is called "Replacing a Nintendo Switch fan in 20 minutes!" by Fernando C. It's a great step-by-step guide, and I highly recommend it. It's a bit on the longer side, but you're going to want to take your time replacing the fan anyway. Hope this helps.
