Urban Worm Blanket - Fits Any Worm Bin Bag, Subpod, & More - Keep Worms Dark, Moist, & Warm - (1)

Purchased in winter (low 30s F at night) and kept my worms alive and happy. Now in the 100s F and maintaining a comfortable environment for my composting worms.

My worms love eating on this when I flake out on them for couple of days.

This worm blanket has helped me with my fungus gnat issue. I use European night crawlers (which like cooler climates) the blanket entices them to compost my scraps at the surface of my worm bag even at hot temperatures when they usually would be at the bottom of the bag. The center of my mat was weak and ripped over time but it’s not really an issue.

Great blanket, worked well to keep my worm bin moist, contained and no fruit flies. I was able to easily cut it into a circle shape to match my "Can O Worms" bin. The only downside is that I didn't check the bin for about 3 weeks and found that it had disintegrated/there were holes all over it, apparently due to moisture. Usually there would have been a very dry layer of paper between the compost and the blanket, but it has mostly broken down. I would be willing to buy this one more time and try again, as I loved the idea and the weight of it. A little pricey for a piece of burlap, though, especially if it doesn't hold up.

It arrived with an odd smell, almost chemical. It reminded me of something from my military days. I let it sit out for a while, and it cleared up. Mine did come with a rip and a hole in it. I was cutting mine in half, so I was able to cut around them. The worms just finished the first half and it lasted seven months! There are still some chunks of it left, but the worms will make quick work of it. I do appreciate the educational videos posted online, so I like to support them. I also see that the price is cheaper than what I paid, so I am placing another order. Yes, you can use newspapers, but if you want to spoil your babies, this is the way!

This is a nice product, but for the price, I would suggest just using old cardboard egg cartons or cardboard boxes. After about 2 months of use I can't pull it back without it coming to pieces. The worms do love it, though. They move freely through it, probably live within the fabric matrix, and are enjoying the blanket as food. I'm going to leave it in my Worm Factory 360 which I keep in the utility room in my basement and let the worms continue to eat it. But I will be going back to cardboard egg cartons and cardboard I cut from boxes, and leave the pieces of the blanket as fiber for the worms to eat and live within.

Excellent ! The worm blanket is a great size extremely thick . Wish the price would go down a bit , but I’m happy with my purchase!

The worms love this mat and burrow right into it. I don't think some of them ever leave. It deteriorates over time because they eat it, but for my bin I get two uses out of one mat by cutting it into pieces. What I really like about it is the moisture level is so much better by using the mat under the newspaper.
