Asian Kitchen Brown Sona Masoori Rice

I first bought this rice during the COVID lockdown because it was the only bulk brown rice I could find available, but it instantly became my favorite rice ever. The grains are tiny and cook up fluffy, giving the cooked rice a unique and appealing texture. I use the traditional method of cooking this rice: one cup rice to 4 cups water, simmering for 10 minutes after it comes to a boil, draining the excess water and letting it sit covered for another 10 minutes.

We have been eating Brown Short Grain Rice for 8+ years from several different countries: Uncooked this rice was more white and looked like all other brown rice but just much smaller. The ‘nutty’ smell was not present while cooking. This smelled like white rice and tasted just like white rice (this is not brown and certainly not short). Unable to eat this rice due to the higher starch and I am disappointed to say the least.

Quality wise great but paid 50% more than what is priced in any India grocery store.

I was just introduced to this rice and was eagerly awaiting its delivery. The bag was properly sealed and I noticed small bugs once I opened the zipper. I was hopeful it was just an external issue. I removed the stitching and discovered the same bugs inside of the rice. Guess I will be sticking to Jasmine and Basmati rice after all.
