Great adventure movie.

IT REALLY WAS A DISAPPOINTMENT AND I DON'T RECCOMEND THIS CUT. IT WAS OK FOR THE MOST PART BUT THERE WERE PARTS WERE IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT THE DIRECTOR DID NOT KNOW HIS SUBJECT.

This is the third of its kind

Not even close to other versions of Mysterious Island. One of the worst movies I have ever seen. Nonsensical science and even grotesque with regard to what Nemo's crew allegedly became and why. This plotline digresses enormously from usual Mysterious Island in that it implies the people stranded are lost in place and time via a time portal--a Bermuda Triangle theme--Civil War men in the air balloon and women from 2010 in an airplane crash. Post crash scenarios re: what the survivors face are hopeless attempts that leave the movie viewer wondering how this movie found financing to begin with. Nemo's home is a Southern style house all by itself. Seriously? The Nautilus is underneath the house.....in the ground. The ending is ludicrous beyond belief by suggesting that they get away thru a fabricated time portal (don't ask how) and end up in outer space somewhere taxing the viewer's patience still further by asking them to 'consider' that the survivors are still time traveling, i.e. the writers had no clue how to end the movie. R.I.P.

They escape in a balloon during the Civil War & that's where similarity ends to the 1961 version. Except Nemo also makes an appearance. the 1960's version is much better due to Harryhausen special effects. This Was like a made for TV show. They did change story a lot, but basically it's a time waster

THE MOVIE IS OK, NOT AS GOOD AS OTHER JULES VERNE STORIES

It was gracious of them to add Jules Verne's name to the title, as though that would lend an air of credence to their version of this classic tale. But aside from begrudgingly using Captain Nemo in their retelling, that's as far as the similarities go. In this mild adventure, a small group escapes the ravages of the civil war in a balloon that gets sucked into a purple portal where they eventually find themselves deposited on THE mysterious island. They soon realize they are being hunted by unseen `creatures' in the jungle. The first to go missing finds himself on the wrong end of a potluck dinner. Before you can say holy Hannah, a flying locomotive crashes, depositing two sisters lost in time and space!!! There's also a sea beastie with an attitude, a volcano, and the mystery of the creatures from the jungle is solved after another member becomes an entree. Late in the game, Nemo shows up to lay claim to the creation of the Bermuda Triangle. He insists there is no escape from this island. For an action adventure, there is relatively little action and almost no adventure. They simply stage a scene here and there, on one day or the next, where the group stands around talking about what to do. Every so often, something happens with little or no excitement. Days fly by, sometimes a single scene constituting that day's events. It's almost always difficult to make something sound exciting simply by talking about it. It's only saving grace was that I found it preposterously amusing. (I love how they made the DVD cover illustration a b-zillion times more exciting than the movie.) It's truly, desperately appalling but I liked it because it is truly, desperately appalling. Crap by any name..................

Is that any good. didn't bear to watch it!

Great show.....but the DVD did not have a good picture.....so that was disappointing......

Depending on your taste on fantasy, I expected more from a famed author. I think this version was ruined.

The movie was not what i expected. I was hoping to see a movie similier to 20 Thousand Leagues under the sea. This version of the movie does not represent the Jules Verne's style.
