Microshelters: 59 Creative Cabins, Tiny Houses, Tree Houses, and Other Small Structures Review: Inspired, value-packed "tiny" shelter resource - I received this book as an early birthday present from my daughter, Belle, a few days ago. My head and heart have been pouring over it for two days now and I love it! I am a THOW (tiny house on wheels) designer/builder/dweller. I own several versions of Deek’s books and all of them evidence his effluvient creative spirit and inventive use of resources. Back in 2012, when I attended his workshop (and slept in the Gypsy Junker, page 142), there were only a few books on the market on tiny houses and/or plans. This Rennaissance man (father, builder, designer, musician, artist, boy scout leader, community founder) has authored several previous books that are chock full of his amazing drawings and unconventional dream shacks. This publication stands out as a wonderful collection of many micro-shelters around the country that he has filmed and includes some structures we have built in his workshops. Deek’s writing style is charming and his observations succinct. A plethora of tiny shelters are presented with each of their customized storage innovations and construction materials in bold living color. I highly recommend it as a first book to any tiny house enthusiast for all of its tips on tools, salvaging strategy, construction basics, micro shelter plans and affordable décor ideas. Whether you are planning to construct a backyard tree house, mini-studio, office or a year-round tiny home, this book needs to be in your hands, dog-eared, enjoyed, used, and cherished for years to come. Those of us who live in tiny houses are very minimal in what stuff we keep. I have only 30 treasured books in my 184 square foot tiny house on wheels; and this is the third one from Deek! He inspired me three years ago to fulfill my Silver Bullet Tiny House challenge, and I passionately believe Deek’s micro shelters book will inspire you too! Review: Lots of ideas - Great designs and ideas

Great ideas and inspiration
This book delivers on ideas and inspiration for your micro-shelter dreams. While it doesn’t have planning info for every design, there are basic plans for a few of the designs at the end. A fun and inspiring read with really diverse micro shelters.

I love to learn about others who share my passion for ...
I received my pre-ordered copy of Micro Shelters yesterday. I have barely put it down since! As a Tiny House dweller, I love to learn about others who share my passion for diminutive abodes. This book has it all! The photos are amazing! The back story of each structure is fascinating, and Deek points out his own favorite features of every one. In addition to all this...are sections on tools, the beauty of using salvaged materials, and tips for the tiny budget. As if that was not enough, the final section is comprised of plans for six unique tiny structures...for those inclined to build their own, but needing a place to start. This book will appeal to lovers of "Tiny" at any/all stages of their journey...dreamers, builders, dwellers, as well as lovers of all creative design. Oh, and did I mention, for those not familiar with Deek's work, that the book exudes a humor, in both text and illustration, that had me laughing out loud well after midnight (by lantern light). I am so inspired...I'm heading out to do a little dumpster diving!

I watch Deek on Youtube often and was pleasantly surprised when he came out with a book. This book shows many possible options for micro shelters. There is just about any style example that you can imagine in this book. Shelters for those with little money and those with a bit more to spend. It's fun to see the creativity that has gone into a lot of these shelters. People re-purposed many of the materials and ended up with some cool results. I would recommend this book to those that would like their own space or would like to share a tiny house with someone or two. It would also be great for dads that would like to build the infamous tree house or playhouse for their child. If you are a writer, or a mom or dad building one of these micro shelters could provide you with a quiet space to capture your thoughts. The photos are beautiful and colorful. I really can't say anything negative about this book. I love it!

Not Bad, Most Info. Available Online
Its not a bad paperback book. I guess it provides inspiration for a backyard build. However, most if this information is available online. It does include 5 or 6 BASIC "Plans" for small structures. Unfortunately, it doesn't include any plans foe the authors own very popular "Transforming A Frame". I found that very disappointing. The author recently bought a 5ac parcel near an area I go to often. Hopefully I'll bump into him and strongly recommend he include it in the next printing!!!

Es una buenísima fuente de inspiración, lleno de fotos, descripciones e incluso planos de algunos modelos de "microrrefugios". ¡Lo recomiendo!

I ordered this book for my husband, and he was thrilled! The sketches are fabulous, and he loved seeing his other ideas, and all the other advice he has to give for finding & gathering the materials, and planning for a tiny house build.

The book has some of the best collection of beautifully built small homes, that will make you rethink what can be achieved with limited space and budget. I bought the e-book and it provides an interesting in depth review of the different concepts and offers a lot of images showing the interior design plus floor plans. It's a great read and will help you think of new ways to design a new project for conserving space.
