Where was this manufactured and is there anything in it that would be helpful to humans?

Manufactured in PRC. China. I would not recommend for humans, or even animals! Smells strongly of ammonia due to the way it is processed. I returned it immediately. You want the pharmaceutical grade. Same distributor, Trifecta, sells it but is more expensive. Globe is the name on the human grade and is FDA registered. None that I have found are like what I have from years and years ago. I am seeking good ole black salve that smells of petroleum or coal tar. Hope this info is helpful.

This stuff looks more brown than black, is that normal?

I'm not familiar with other Ichthammol products. I've heard they are black with a strong tar smell. I bought this product. It is black/very dark dark brown. It has a faint tar smell. I can tell you that I used it to remove a boil and it popped in one hour and completely healed in 4 days. I'm sold. Read the reviews...other's have used this product to quickly "draw out" splinters.

has anyone tried this for duck bumble foot? How long does treatment take?

I have usesd it as a drawing salve for boils and tissue infections. It is a protectant and osmotic. It should be beneficial for either on animals as well. Betadine and sugar mixed in a paste has also worked on open wounds.

I just ordered and received the ointment, why is the expiration date so soon? It’s stated 5/2020.

You should have sent it back with a note asking Ama why such an early expiration date. Guess it's too late now.
