Great fire starters for fire kits
These work very well. We put them in our fire kits in our emergency bags. They burn much longer than they advertise. They do so well, that we don't use a whole one unless it's very wet conditions. We usually use a f rod for fire starting, but sometimes we need something quick and easy, especially if it's damp. We normally only use 1/3 of one to start a fire in normal conditions. We've purchased these numerous times.

Great waterproof fire plugs
Make sure to rip plugs apart before trying to ignite. Once ripped apart ignites easily with fire starter. Great value for money for emergency kit. Small and packabke. Slight smell and noise while burning but not a big deal for me.

Very Useful and Light
These take a spark easily and do burn for at least 4 minutes (when the two halves are right next to each other).I soaked one in water for 30 seconds and it did light via spark but it didn’t stay burning long enough IMHO to get a fire going. All in all; this are super lightweight and work well. You can throw a handful of these in your fire kit and for easy fire starting. A small ziplock bag of a few of these and a lighter would be good for a day hike bag in the event of emergencies.

repeat customer.
This is our second or third purchase. They work. Like others say, we melted some parafin and some beeswax (separate batches), and dunked a few of these into that wax (in and out quickly). We did this about 8-10 times and built up a nice layer of wax on the outside. Yes, it adds to the waterproofing, but more importantly, it increases the burn time a bit. I think we got 10-12 minutes out of a half that we had dipped in the melted beeswax. In a pinch while backpacking, if you have a zipper that sticks, you can take one of the dipped version and rub the zipper to help loosen it up - double use. I've even managed to use the beeswax versions like lipbalm - triple use.

Too compacted for easy use
I've used wax-infused fire starters like this before and they are GREAT for starting fires with even the smallest of sparks. But this design is difficult to "fluff" so that it will catch a spark easily. I have to rub it between a couple of rocks for hunks of wood to break it up enough to use. Once you do that, it works great, (just like the other ones on the market). I personally recommend the type that looks like a woven piece of rope/cord. They light much easier because you can easily "fluff" the end of the cord with just your hands (even if they are cold and numb) and once it is going, you are able to move it around the tinder like a long-burning match instead of having to just drop it into the tinder and hope for an ignition as is the case with this particular style. Also, you can snuff out the rope/cord version for reuse if your tinder lights quickly. These can be portioned (cut up) for multiple uses but once a portion is lit, that's it.So, great material but poor design for easy and/or multiple uses per piece.Starting a fire easily in a cold weather or an emergency situation is important stuff... so I hope this info helps you decide the best thing for you.
