Is this the same as the same brands “sweet” soy sauce?

I haven’t compared them, but the black soy sauce definitely has a sweet, carmelized flavor. Not like regular soy sauce.

I take the cap off, forcibly if necessary with a can opener or a knife. Then I put a spout on it, like for olive oil or alcoholic beverage bottles, makes it much easier than shaking it up and down 200 times. Lol.

The only ingredient in the black soy sauce is soy. There is some starch in soy, although very little, however to the best of my knowledge, that starch has to be listed to comply with USDA requirements.
