Travertine - 1.25" thick 24" x 16" will this work? I need to cut .5" off of the 24" side and need a table extension to do...or a saw with 24"+ clearan

Yes, it will work. I own this saw and have ripped 24" tile within 1/16" accuracy. You'll just need to take it slow given the thickness of your tile. The blade that comes with it is quite capable, however I eventually switched mine out for a Pearl P4. Excellent saw and a pleasure to use.

According to the box, it is made in Taiwan.

Not sure . Ive owned MK - Rigid- Pearl abrasive and Target wet saws. tile setter for 16 yrs. Overall for the price its a good saw. Good power , great capacity for cutting large tiles. water management system is good.
