Whether used as a reference book to address a particular challenge or read from start to finish, this is a must-read for anyone facing death or the loss of a loved one. Youโll learn: โข how to listen to and support a loved oneโs needs; โข what to expect as a loved one declines and the different grieving processes and tasks; โข the key to supporting a grieving child; โข what resources are available for patients and caregivers; โข the lessons of near-death experiences and the value of after-death communications. Review: Most helpful - Dr. Leary's experiences lend a great deal of credibility in approaching the topics of dying, death, and grieving. She writes with first hand knowledge as well as compassion. Following the introductory section where she shares her personal experiences, the book is divided into two portions. The first section helps one make a difference in the life of a loved one during illness and death. Practical tips guide you through the shared experience, enabling a meaningful death. The second section helps the reader and loved ones through the stages of bereavement, again offering practical suggestions. The book is a helpful guide and can be read as a reference book as the needs arise or cover-to-cover. Dr. Leary has given us a valuable tool to guide us and our loved ones through these often difficult times of transition. This is a must read for everyone.....share it with your friends and family! Review: Support and guidance to those who are caring for family or friends in their last days. - I purchased this three years ago and neglected to write a review at the time. The book remains in my library to this day because it was so very helpful for myself and my family as we experienced the passing of my father at age 98. Dad been suffering from dementia for a number of years and caring for him was often very frustrating. It was frequently difficult to determine his wants and needs and we were definitely not experts in interpreting what he was trying to communicate to us. Quite honestly, we simply lacked patience and understanding necessary to deal with the situation and that frustration was clearly obvious, but not well understood by him.. Then I found "No One Has to Die Alone on desertcart'. I purchased it and found Dr. Leary's story of her own father so closely paralleled my own experience, I felt I was reading about my own father's death. And that being the case, I was able to regain patience and understanding and better provide comfort not only for my father, but for the surrounding family. We all found peace in those last few months, thanks to this well written can comprehensive work of Dr. Leary's.

Everyone should read this book.
We are all going out of this world via death. Not only is this book excellent for understanding that we all die, it is a great guide to helping you know what to do when that time comes. I love that this author looks at death as a graduation from the bodily plane to the heavenly plane where pain and struggle no longer exist. There are far too many accounts of the unconditional love and light awaiting us all, for me not to believe it to be true. Lani's own story is so touching and real that it brings tears to your eyes when she beautifully describes how she helped her father transition. Highly recommend that everyone read this book.

Now I won't die alone.
Lots of folks should read this book and apply it's recommendations when and before the time comes to participae in the end-of-life and after death emotional times. Comforting a dying person not only benefits that person by also the person surviving. A great book for providing the steps to be administered in those circumsances.

Compassionate and Caring
This book is very insightful and compassionate and has been an excellent resource for end of life caretaking for my sisters and I. Few of us know about the process of death and what our loved one is going through- letting your loved one be in charge of the process and talk about the things in life that have mattered to them is essential. Everyone wants to know that their life mattered and want their family and loved ones to be with them. Lani Leary's book answered all of my questions and has helped ease my anxiety with the process of dying (physical and spiritual). The second half of the book is about the grief process which we all go through- very well written. You can tell that Lani Leary has written her compelling book through love, compassionate caring and vast experience in the field of end of life care. Thank you for this comprehensive book

helped me when my parents died
I read this book while my parents were dying and it was very helpful during that time, and after. I read it again a year later and I got more out of it again. Because of the way it is structured, it is easy to start and stop reading at any point and still get a lot out of it. The focus on both "how to" and emotional support was of great help at a time when I felt alone in my complicated grief process. Dr. Leary writes without judgement and from the heart, you can feel in every line that she understands and has valuable information to offer. I gave a copy of this book to many people, but keep my own copy to refer back to when needed. Loss and grief are ongoing parts of life and this book helps every time!

INSIGHTFUL & LIFE CHANGING BOOK
Never have I read a book of such monumental value and significance. This book opened a door for me providing a multitude of choices and options that I had not been aware of, not just about death/dying but also about LIVING. Already I have highlighted the areas within as a reminder during my lifetime on how to be "present" with compassion, the art of listening, "...make choices out of love and acceptance rather than fear and avoidance..", ...and so much more. Dr. Leary has clearly written this not only from her intellect but also from her heart to the heart of others. It has changed my life on many levels with living, grieving and dying.
