The internal dimensions of this product is 16*7*12.

Is this caddy light grey or dark grey ?

Light grey but the drip tray at the bottom is a darker shade of grey.

It is white with the divider insert and the tray in grey. Looks nice and it would be ok if you use the thin dishwashing sponges but knitted cotton dish cloths end up smelling as there's not enough air citculation. Hope this helps.

Is there a knack to taking this apart. I have just bought one and cannot manage to separate it.

It is difficult but perseverance will eventually reward you!! I would have to say that this issue is poor design and as there is no information or guidance as to how to go about it, you just have to prod, push, twist and cajole! That said, the container/drainer is by far the best little sink gadget I've ever had!!
