The shiny surface has two functions: If heating season, the shiny surface has less heat radiation into the attic than any other surface color. When cooling, that shiny surface reflects -reduces the absorption - of heat radiation. **Q: Want to insulate the kitchen fan exhaust pipe; is this an appropriate product for that use? If not, what should I use?** A: This would work using aluminum foil tape for the seams. **Q: How many sheets?** A: This is a roll of insulation 12 inches wide -- 15 foot long and 2 inches thick, there may be sheets of material in the 2 inches but I never counted them -- it is just 2 inches total thickness **Q: Can this be used to wrap an aluminum dryer vent tube to prevent condensation on the outside of the tube during the winter?** A: I used it to insult my bathroom fan duct running through the attic. I had a problem with condensation dripping down into the bathroom. This fixed the problem. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ THE Best Product On The Market For HVAC Duck Insulating *by on Reviewed in the United States June 27, 2020* This is a terrific product that does just exactly what it was designed to do! I used it to wrap the HVAC supply runs in my older home and what a difference it has made!Very easy to work with. But just like any project, make sure you know what you are doing. Long sleeves, light gloves, a hat and even a face mask helps because the insulator in this product is fiberglass and it can shed in the installation process. That is to be expected.I think you would be very hard put to find a better product for it's intended use. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great product to insulate HVAC ducts. *by on Reviewed in the United States February 27, 2020* Product worked as advertised and easy to put on, assuming you can get access to the pipes. Easy to cut when needed. I covered some 90 degree bends with successβ€” just used some metal HVAC tape to secure the pipe insulation. I didn’t use gloves to protect my hands from the insulation material, but probably should have. Ordered a second roll to do some other pipes as well. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Worked well and quality was good *by on Reviewed in the United States August 19, 2025* Worked well for insulating bathroom exhaust tubing. No issues other than it does shed lots of fiberglass partials so wear a mask for overhead work. ## Frequently Bought Together - Thermwell Products 12"X15' Fbg Insulation Sp55 Pipe Insulation - Aluminum Foil Tape, 2 inch x 65 Feet (3.9 mil), Insulation Adhesive Metal High Temperature Heavy Duty HVAC Tape, Silver for Ductwork, Dryer Vent, HVAC - ETERART Aluminum Foil Duct Tape Heavy Duty,High Temperature Sealing and Patching,Perfect for HVAC,Air Ducts,Metal Repair,Foamboard,Insulation,Dryer Vent and More,2 Inches x 20 Yards,Silver --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - πŸ›’ **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** β€” Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** β€” Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - πŸ’° **No Hidden Fees** β€” All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - πŸ”„ **15-Day Free Returns** β€” Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - πŸ”’ **Secure Payments** β€” Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** β€” Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/17832372-thermwell-products-12x15-fbg-insulation-sp55-pipe-insulation](https://www.desertcart.com.pa/products/17832372-thermwell-products-12x15-fbg-insulation-sp55-pipe-insulation) --- *Product available on Desertcart Panama* *Store origin: PA* *Last updated: 2026-10-21*
