The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth album by the English rock band Pink Floyd. Originally released on 1 March 1973, on the label Harvest, it built on ideas explored in the band's earlier recordings and live shows, but departs from instrumental thematic by founding member Syd Barrett. The album explores themes including conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter partly inspired by Barrett's deteriorating mental state. - Developed during live performances, an early version was premiered several months before recording began; new material was recorded in two sessions in 1972 and 1973 at Abbey Road in London. The group used some advanced recording techniques at the time, including multitrack recording and tape loops. Analogue synthesizers were prominent in several tracks, and snippets from recorded interviews with Pink Floyd's road crew and others provided philosophical quotations throughout. Engineer Alan Parsons was responsible for many distinctively notable sonic aspects and the recruitment of non-lexical singer Clare Torry. The album's iconic sleeve, designed by Storm Thorgerson, depicts a prism dispersing light into colour and represents the band's lighting, the record's thematic material, and keyboardist Richard Wright's "simple and bold" design request. Stereo remastered album on heavyweight 180g vinyl Original UK release date: March 1973 Certified 15 times platinum in the US and 14 times platinum in the UK Reached number one in the UK and the US Topped Billboard Top LPs and Tapes and charted for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988 Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album and one of the best selling worldwide 2016 version Remastered from the original analogue tapes by James Guthrie, Joel Plante, and Bernie Grundman Review: It's the Dark Side Luke. - I am gradually purchasing the classics on vinyl, this is a no brainer. The , probably greatest of Pink Floyd's albums. This version sounds better than my CD,more warmth and depth. The remastering and half speed pressing is an audible delight, 180 gram vinyl means that after I am long gone,my eldest son, who is getting my vinyl collection, will still get many years of joy from it. Piper at the gates of dawn was my first ever album purchase on cassette when I was 15, still have it kicking around somewhere. 68 this year. Have purchased Dark Side on cassette and CD, my wife had the original on vinyl but her rubbish record player had ruined it. Hopefully my Denon system wont. If you already have it on vinyl, maybe give it a miss, but if you have a decent turntable and only have the CD, then this copy is well worth the money. Review: Stunning audio quality - Stunning, simply stunning! I was worried that this 50th anniversary addition would lose something compared to the original analogue versions: nope; easily the best sounding LP in my collection.

Dark Side of the Moon CD
My favourite album, I often play on my CD player, whether in the house, my car, or in my garden. I purchased this item twice. So I have one in my house, the other in my car.

Beautiful remastering of Dark Side Of The Moon
50 Years on and Dark Side Of The Moon still sends shivers down my back. Paired with a high quality turntable, valve amp and speakers, this album will take you on a journey through your past and your soul. What a band and what a time to be alive.

A classic album in every way
An essential album for any classic rock devotee, and well worth the investment, even if you already own an earlier copy of this '70s masterpiece.

One of the all time greats
Always loved this album. Still making it into album charts and still going strong for 55 years. At one stage spent a massive 14 years in the album charts WOW. Some of these manufactured crap can't last 14 minutes. Anyway just love this album to bits.

My fault i though something was wrong with it but I have found out that's pink Floyd but I don't remember it on vinyl when I waited 6 weeks to get a copy but over the years and my life changed and I lost that album and now I am retired and I thought get that cd as I can not afford vinyl so when I got it and put it on well you can imagine o no what's this but after investigation into it now I understand so sorry for the 4 *

Noice
Yeah great album, great sound blah blah blah... but total kudos to the production of this as a physical item. The cover feels velvet, two posters, two stickers and the inner sleeve features an acid free liner... Small details but it shows a pleasing level of attention to detail

Satisfied
I was lucky enough to see this live at Merriweather Post in Columbia MD. Left a lasting impression on me, especially the quad sound which I think is the only time anyone used it on tour. Glad to have the remaster. One of the best produced albums in history in my opinion.
