The Bröyêur manual coffee grinder is inexpensive and easy to use

*by D***N on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on March 19, 2016*

The Bröyêur manual coffee grinder is inexpensive and easy to use. I have been using it now for a few weeks for my expresso/latte maker and am very happy with my purchase. I had previously bought espresso coffee as well as ground the coffee beans using a blade grinder, both of which worked up to a point. It wasn't until I used the Bröyêur coffee grinder that I realized how much richer the extraction was than when I used the blade grinder. The color was that rich toffee color and the taste was rich, not bitter. One of the best advantages is that I get a freshly ground cup of coffee, espresso, or latte. It is easy to use and easy to clean. When you purchase this grinder, the manufacturer sends you a user guide in PDF format. I recommended that you download it on to your smartphone or tablet so that you will have it handy for reference. Your other alternative is to print the 28-page guide in booklet format (if your printer has that capability) to save on paper. The user guide has information on how to use and clean it as well as recipes for making coffee, frappé, latte, cold brew coffee, French Press coffee, and Turkish coffee.Minor drawbacks (but not deal-breakers) are:1) You have to manually control the coarseness or fineness of the coffee grounds by clicking on the knob at the base of the hopper by turning clockwise or counterclockwise. You just have to experiment with the grinder until you get the desired grounds. I wished that there were numbers on the knob to make it easier, but I can't complain considering the price.2) The user guide did not have a schematic of the grinder indicating the different parts. The guide referred to the terms: coffee ground cup, base, hopper, etc. It would have been easier initially if there was a drawing with the names with which to refer. All in all, I highly recommend this if you want a burr grinder at a great price. It is easy to use and doesn't make a big mess that the big grinders make.

I don't brew espresso very often, but when I do I want the unique flavor that I associate with really good espresso. I certainly get that flavor with the grinds I have made with my Broyeur Grinder. I get a better, finer, espresso grind than I can with my Cuisinart burr grinder. The device seems to be well made and it's nice to have the bag to keep everything together. So far I have used it to grind Sweet Maria's Monkey Blend that I roast myself and A. Nannini pre-roasted beans that my daughter brought me from Italy last month. My espresso makers are not high end, One is a Nespresso with "fill-it-yourself inserts" and the other is a low-end deLonghi that I bought on line for under $70 over a decade ago. With its higher pressure, the Nespresso does make a better brew, but the deLonghi does well enough if I pause it for a few seconds just as the brew starts to flow out.My only gripe is that it takes my Broyeur longer and uses more "elbow grease" to grind enough beans for a double espresso than I had expected - maybe about 50% longer - even though it is convenient to have it there shiny and ready to use without digging into my cupboard. It seems to me that the Broyeur design is ideal for using a high-torque battery-driven motor over the hex screw; I have a wine-cork remover that works that way, why not this?

Grinds from the Broyeur burr grinder make an excellent cup of coffee

*by L***Z on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on January 28, 2016*

I ordered the Broyeur Burr Grinder mainly to use for my French press coffee maker. I read that a burr grinder would yield a much more consistent grind for the French press, plus I wanted to use this while camping off the grid in our travel trailer. I have been experimenting with this grinder, trying to get the perfect grind that does not leave sludge in the bottom of the cup, but so far haven't perfected that yet. It was suggested that I try another type of coffee bean, which I will after I run out of my current supply. In the meantime, the grinds do make an excellent tasting cup of coffee from my French press. I just don't drink the last sip to avoid the sludge in the bottom of the cup! Additionally, it should be noted that it does take quite a bit of time to grind enough beans for use. It takes me approximately 4 minutes to grind a full hopper, which is the amount I use in my French press. I don't think I'd want to use this as a grinder for a large coffee pot.
