Boone Blue Kayak storage brackets.
Before purchasing this unit I researched the web, comparing the large number of products available, including home-made alternatives. I wanted a simple, effective and low cost solution to store my 13 ft Hobie Quest kayak. The Boone Blue product was exactly what I had hoped for. The product has good installation instructions and proved easy to install in about 15 minutes. The brackets provide strong support for the kayak and have protective materials to avoid scratching the boat. I found with other storage systems, particularly the strap units, that handling the kayak by oneself was awkward and could be risky for back injuries, not to mention crashing into anything in the vicinity. This wasn't the case with this unit. The kayak is relatively easy to lift on as the upward part of the bracket does not extend unnecessarily high. The kayak fits securely in the brackets and is easily adjusted. Lifting the kayak off is even easier than putting it on. I'm totally satisfied with the functionality of the product and think it is good value, considering the alternatives.

Boone Blue Kayak Crib
I bought these kayak hooks but in the end did not use them - purely from an application standpoint. In the right application they obviously will work nicely. They are sturdy/stout enough to easily hold the kayak, and installation is straight forward. The only thing I felt could be a little better was the padding on the arms which was a bit thin. That can be remedied by adding some foam rubber pipe insulation.

Too expensive, Strange shipping, Should have made my own.
OK, so these are decent wall hooks for my yak, but they are entirely too expensive and the shipping was a major hassle (see below). In a nutshell, these are just two pieces of heavy aluminum tube stock bent to the proper angle, hammered flat at one end with a couple holes drilled, and a smart looking nylon sheath sewn and placed over the pieces to protect your yak. I could tell from the pictures they were nothing more than this, but I needed a quick solution and had no time (nor a bending jig) to make them myself so I ordered anyway. You could very easily create a set of these yourself with about 15 minutes, some pipe, a hack saw, a hammer, a cordless drill, and a couple old towels to wrap around the pipes. Wouldn't look as pretty, but would be just as functional. Odd shipping: the company actually shipped these to me via freight carrier. Meaning they were shipped on a large truck and it took several extra days to receive them because the freight company had to call and make sure I would be home to accept delivery. The even stranger piece to this was they listed the package listed as 75 pounds and measuring as large as a full pallet of goods (a pallet is approx 42" x 42" and they actually had one of the dimensions of this package as 144" - a complete fabrication). The thing was all of 8 pounds at most and measured in at 18" x 18" x 4". Have no idea why they shipped it that way, but what a hassle - had to coordinate to get out of work early, help a truck driver navigate a turn around in our neighborhood, and sign for the package. FedEx Ground or UPS Ground would have been much more convenient for all involved... Last note: quality was acceptable in most areas, but one of the hooks wasn't bent to the same angle as the other. Not a major issue, but for the price I would expect a better QC check before shipping. I bent the bad one to match the other and they are installed and working adequately. Moving forward, if I buy another kayak and need to hang it I will absolutely plan ahead, buy the materials, and make this myself.

Great Product
If you have the wall space, these things are fantastic. My boats are off the car and in these racks fast - no messing around with straps, ropes, hooks, hoists, etc. The hooks are very sturdy and when bolted to the wall will not move. I have mine attached to a concrete block wall with tapcons, but I think they would be just as sturdy if they were attached to studs. I don't think I would want to put them into drywall only, but through drywall and into the studs would be fine. The padding on the hooks is nice and protects the boats from any scratches from the metal hooks themselves, and the padding that covers where the hooks attach to the wall is a nice touch and makes sure yoru boats don't rub against whatever you use to fasten the hooks to the wall. I also like that the padding is a very heavy fabric sleeve instead of a foam cover that would end up getting damaged over time. I expect these to last for years and years.

Works well
We bought this kit to hang our inflatable kayak on in our garage and it works very well for that purpose. It was easy to put up, and looks nice, also.

Not quite what I expected.
This works for hanging my Kayak, so it gets the job done. I give it two dings for the following: 1) The inside measurement is 14", not the 15" as stated. Fortunately, my kayak fits. 2) It is not really padded. The metal is covered with cloth, but no padding. This is what really disappointed me. If you want a padded hanger, this is not for you. I'm going to try wrapping the mounts with pipe insulation to get some real padding on them. You what it is worth, you could buy a length of EMT tubing at a local hardware store for about $7.50, cut it in half, bend each half into a J, pound one end flat with hammer, drill a couple of holes in it, and get the exact same thing as this hanger for 20% of the price.

Kayak storage: Boone Blue Crib
This is an excellent product and I recommend it and the seller. The "J" is made of a high quality metal with quality covering and workmanship; the "paddles" protect both the wall and the kayak. I purchased 2 sets, and had both our kayaks hung in about an hour -- no problems at all with the two screws in each cradle. The shipping was timely and well done; the instructions were clear and concise. I was concerned about the quality given the price, but they are of great quality and at a reasonable price. If you need to hang your kayaks, e.g., in a garage or a storage shed, this product is perfect. The only cautions I would note is to be certain you hit a stud and measure carefully if you are mounting more than one set so they line up for a neat appearance!

Just what I was looking for!
These kayak rack hooks are exactly what I was looking for. We mounted one set lower on the wall, and another higher on the wall. The kayaks are easy to put in and out at either height. The hooks mount easily and hold our Perception Sport Swiftwater kayaks with room to spare. The padding over the metal hooks protects the sides of the kayak perfectly and I really like how even the mounting portion is covered, again protecting the kayak. I would just recommend measuring the width needed on your kayak so you can mount them on the wall to properly accomodate your kayak and spread the weight out. Would definitely recommend!
