Nice conversion package
This is a great package to convert an old hard tail to a 1X10 setup. The derailleur is nice I put it next to an extra M8000 11 speed I have on my workbench and it has most of the same basic technology. Everything you need is included except the front cog (dependent on your crank) and the wolf tooth goatlink 11 which I think is mentioned in other reviews. I had one in hand but used a RISK link I got here on Amazon and it works great. Definitely a good way to get more life out of an older frame for a low budget. I would highly recommend some blue loc tite on the bolt between the derailleur hanger and whatever link you use. It needs to stay in place and not move in order to work by installing it you create a long lever with 2 pivot point. This is not complicated but does require some basic bike know how. Good project for first timers who are not in a hurry.

Nice drivetrain for 1x conversion
Components in the group are all quality and I would highly recommend with a few notes, while I would not install for advanced downhill or racing, if you are an intermediate mountain bike rider, gravel or trail rider this is a very good quality and cost effective way to go for a 1x conversion if you currently have a 3x8 or 3x 9. You do however need some garage bike mechanic experience or at least be mechanical and watch some YouTube videos (Park tool recommended) to install any drive train successfully. Additionally the group includes the Deore 6000 SGS rear derailleur, if you look this up on Shimano's website it states it only supports up to 36T cogs and that is accurate, there is a drop extender included but that is not the intended use with this derailleur, you must purchase and CORRECTLY install the Wolf Tooth Goatlink 11 (not the Goatlink 10), this product is specificity designed to extend any Shimano SGS derailleur geometry to support up to a 46T cog and very importantly it allows the correct adjustment of the "B" screw with no stress. With this kit and the Goatlink 11 (and a narrow-wide chain ring) I was successful in converting a 3x9 Trek Dualsport to a very dependable, quieter and lighter gravel/trail bike.

Very Good! (11-46T, 10 speed)
First I tried this with my XTR GS Derailleur with the 22mm link and had shifting issues in the smallest cogs, (8 thru10). I would have to shift from 8 to 10 then back to 9 if that's where I wanted to be. Contacted Sunrace and they recommended to use the Shimano Deore RD M6000 GS derailleur which is designed for the wider ratio cassettes. Replaced the XTR GS with their recommendation and no more issues at all. Perfect shifting in all cogs and without the 22mm link. I'm running a Race Face 36T Cinch chain ring so this cassette gives me good climbing and a good top end speed when chasing down the young whipper snappers I ride with, heh. Sweet!

Great for 1x9 drive trains. No need to upgrade to a 1x10 for the wide ratio :)
So far I am happy with the cassette. I have a Giant Glory downhill bike that I don't really ride downhill anymore and need something that I can take up the local trails. Instead of spending money on a new bike the wide range cassette was the best way to go. The 11-40t is nice to have. I love how wide it is so now I can still take my bike DH bike up a hill. While not the best way to go for some, but for me I can live with it. I do find that due to the wide ratio shifting is not the smoothest. It really clunks around when shifting. The included 22mm extender is nice as my short cage derailleur works with the 11-40t cassette without having to buy a longer derailleur. Depending on your chain you may need a new chain or add a link or two. The chain that I currently have is just a tad too short when Ininstalled the 11-40t cassette. Also different bikes will vary as some full suspension bikes have more chain movement. One thing that I didn't like was the way the tooth was cut on the cassette. Please refer to the pictures. The teeth looks like a worn cassette with the teeth swept back. Not sure If this is normal, but my other DuraAce cassette doesnt look like this. I'm afraid this will cause the chain to slip under load similar to a worn down cassette.

Good stuff at a good price
I like that they packaged everything I needed to upgrade my cassette from 8 speed to 10 speed, and I like that the price was cheaper than I could have bought everything for separately. I have some experience working on bikes and the right tools to replace a cassette, so installation went smoothly. It shifts well and the gear range is much improved, now. I've ordered JGBike's narrow-wide chainring for the front, and I'm going to try going without a chain guide in the near future.

Firstly, all the items in the box are genuine Shimano. No questions. After having a 12 speed chain fail (250 miles !) I lost faith in the chains so decided to go 10 speed. The shifting is as good if not better than the 12 speed setup. The cassette is a good spread of ratios. The only slight downside is a bigger gap in ratios between first and second but you soon get used to it so its not a deal breaker. The shifter came with a gear indicator window which I was initially disappointed with but its underneath the bar unlike the older shifters which were on top so really not that noticeable and for the money I soon got over it. I wont be going back to 12 speed.

I am very pleased with this group set. It is very very good Quality for the money. The Deore M6000 Derailler is a solid piece and a proven derailleur in the MTB world. The Cassette from Sunrace is very good Quality too and the KMC chain does the job perfectly. Installation was easy for my bike as well. My Bike is a 2013 GT Timberline 1.0. I have Bontrager AT-850 29 inch Disc wheels that accomodate up too a 10 speed cassette. This group set worked very well for me. I chose the 42T seeing people had trouble with the 46T. I had no trouble what so ever with the 42T, the derailleur got the chain right up to 10 no problem. It took a little normal ajustments to get it too shift smoother but nothing out of the ordinary. For anyone looking at this set, I firmly recommend getting the 42T and most importantly do your research on what is compatible to your bike. Overall, very Affordable, very smooth and very well made. Happy customer.
