Fantastic filter, excellent quality jug and great value for money. Wish I could give it more stars
The amount of time I spent researching which was the best water filter for me is embarrassing really... but moving on, I'm SO pleased I went with this one. My main two concerns were great taste, and less microplastics consumed - so I definitely knew I wanted the jug to be glass. I have had a Brita jug for many (many) years, and it's been fine, so I initially was going to go with the glass Brita jug because I thought it looked "prettier" than this one. (Shallow of me I know - don't judge). I figured I could just swap out the Brita filter for the Phox "compatible" filter, resulting in being able to have a prettier jug and eliminating the "throw away Brita filters". Win win! However, a couple of reviews (on both the Phox and the Phox compatible cartridges) made me think that the Phox was far and away the better choice over the Brita, and I should just get over my ridiculous notion that looks mean anything. Surely what matters is the taste and the environment? I felt the price was excellent value for money, especially for what you get - and the price of the filter replacement sachets were very much the same £ compared to other brands, so there was really no reason to not go for it. I loved the Scottish owned company with their values and genuine love for the environment, and the amount of importance they placed on good water for your health. When it arrived I actually quite liked the look of it, it was sturdy, easy to pull apart/put together (someone said they had problems with this, not sure how?) and had a lovely little rubbery base to protect the glass. It's a bit taller than the other jugs, but SO easy to fill - just push the little "tear drop" tab at the top and turn on the tap! Don't even have to remove the lid to do this. Super convenient and very easy to use. Someone else said that the size of the container was small, but you fill it up, let it filter, fill it up half again and there's plenty there. Ok it's not as big as the Brita, but keeping the filter full, and a jug in the fridge jug full - there's plenty of water around! Speaking of my fridge jug - I felt there's no point eliminating micro-plastics in my filter if I'm only going to put the filtered water into a plastic jug, so found a lovely big 1.8L glass jug that fits in the door of my fridge (search "Glass water judge for fridge door" and you'll see it, very pretty mottled glass jug with a gold handle). I had no problems with water pouring out the top (the "fill" compartment) as others mentioned, I think that might happen if you try to pour too quickly after filling? Let it filter first! The style of the jug means that you do have to sometimes lift it almost horizontal to get the water to come out but I'm not sure why that would be a problem for anyone. The water tastes amazing, very clear and clean tasting. In the video I had had the jug for only 2 weeks. At the time of writing this I've had it for nearly 2 months and it's been literally one of my favourite purchases so far. I get enjoyment from it each and every day. If I could give it 10 stars I would.

Very pleased with the purchase
I have had a Brita jug for years and I was feeling more and more disappointed of the amount of wasted plastic it generated through the disposable cartridges as well as the slightly underwhelming quality of the filtered water that it produced.as a result, and after a fair amount of market research I decided to give Phox a go as it seemed to be reasonably priced and had fairly positive reviews. Things I like about it: the fact that the reservoir is glass and hopefully will provide a less microplastc contaminated drink, the filtering granules that come in a paper like sachet and go in a reusable holder so less plastic generated, the taste of the water after filtering is through the Clean type filter is very pleasant and the kettle does not seem to accumulate timescale quite as fast. Things that could be better: the capacity of the jug is smallish especially for a bigger family and the filtering takes slightly longer than with the Brita. However, this is a slight inconvenience rather than a negative for me personally. Initially, there was water trickling over the sides of the filter which was a real negative for me but after a bit of adjusting it seems to have resolved. The only true negative for me is that there still is an element of plastic to the jug and the pouring ergonomics are a little bit akward especially if used to poor water in a kettle. Overall, very pleased with the product, great value for money and water taste is very pleasant. I am looking forward to testing the other two types of filter.

Water taste is excellent
Easy to fit together.Slow to filter and the reservoir does not completely empty.Too large to store in fridge.Quite heavy to lift especially if you have arthritis.Water taste is excellent. On the whole a nice product.

V2 fixes a serious problem with V1. Much better than cartridges
We had a V1 Phox glass water filter which came to a disastrous end - the top and bottom parted company while I was pouring water and the bottom fell and shattered. We were finding shards of glass for days. But we liked the concept and V2 makes a crucial improvement. You push a narrow rubber seal with an inverted U cross-section onto the top rim (not the side, as with V1) of the glass vessel, then press the plastic top down on it and give it about an eighth turn. Helped by a cleverly disguised screw thread between the top and bottom, this is foolproof, unlike with V1; the seal cannot be incomplete. With that done we have a great filter jug. The advantages over "Brita" cartridge-based systems are: - The water tastes better. As with a recently bought coffee machine, we did blind tasting and there is no doubt here. (But see the comment later about the "alkaline" option!) - Good-quality components. Filter jugs tend to look and feel cheap and there is none of that here. It is well known that Irn Bru tastes better from a glass bottle than from a can, and that effect may well be repeated. The plastic parts have a pleasant slightly rubbery feel and are not going to crack or split. The only minor issue is that limescale building up is obvious because of the black finish; however, Viakal or equivalent quickly fixes that. - Very clever design for filling. The jug sits in the sink and is filled from the tap with a gap of only a few inches between the head of the tap and the lid; the flip-up tab where the water enters is particularly good. (I am arthritic and not having to hold a heavy jug under a running tap is great). - Washable. There are no awkward seams or hinges and every part can be detached from the others and fully cleaned. - Recyclable. Even in supermarkets which don't formally collect "Brita" filters there are piles of them in the battery collection bins ... that suggests a big problem and a desire to recycle which, oddly, not many manufacturers appear to be trying to meet. - The same cost as "Brita" filters, despite being a unique technology. There are only two minor issues: - Putting the jug together for the first time is a bit confusing, as there are nine parts in total. However, we quickly learned. - The refills are sometimes unavailable. They have always reappeared after a few days or a week but, given that there is one supplier, any lack of availability is worrying. A mistake we made was to use the "alkaline" rather than "clean" filter pellets for water used to make green tea and coffee. Never again; "alkaline" gave the tea, in particular, an odd taste and is clearly only meant to filter water to be used as water, as it were. Phox has developed an excellent system and should be encouraged. Every six weeks there is only a carbon filter about the size of a £2 coin and a few cubic inches of what look like tiny black and white polystyrene pellets to go into the black bin; water filtering is, by definition, removing undesirable chemicals from water so there is always going to be an non-recyclable component which takes them up and Phox has clearly minimised it.

Felicissima dell'acquisto.

After a lot of research I found the Phox. I have never been able to drink tap water but once I had this, I can even drink room temperature water.

Highly recommend and very easy to setup, use. For us, this is the perfect water-filter pitcher. We love the glass base - no plastic taste in the water. Yay!!!! We’ve only had it a few days, but so far so great!!! I’m already thinking of buying more to give as gifts. 💧💙🥰
