RIT LIQUID DYE, is great to return Black Denim back to the dark rich color that was o
Followed directions, I used a 5 gallon vinyl bucket easy to find in Lowes, Home Depot, and other Hardware Stores. I put freshly laundered pants into the bucket added hot water & RIT Dye from the bottle, and stirred it with a heavy towel rod then I used a Corningware Dinner Plate to keep the Pants below the surface of the water. I left it soaking overnight, then used fresh water to rinse it The Black Rit Dye had worked out great, so after a clean rinse, I out it thru a washing machine cycle using a cold water setting with appropriate laundry detergent. & since the Rit Dye is color safe, it laundered well. And a Casual Heat. Setting in the Dryer completed this project within 40 minutes. If I was able to get such good results at the age of 69, completely by myself...The same results should be within any person's abilities.

BUY IT BUY IT BUY IT!
This saved my most favorite black jeans!! Seriously brought them back to life, and I am so glad I tried this bc it’s about to save me so much money on not buying new black jeans for work. First of all— READ THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! My jeans are 70% cotton. It does NOT work if your jeans/ clothing contain a high % of polyester. For a whole bottle of dye you will use 6 gallons (32cups) of boiling hot water, 2tsp of laundry detergent, 1 cup of salt and let sit for 1 hour submerged. Rinse then light wash. (I dyed 4 pairs of jeans with one bottle) Highly recommend trying this if you don’t want to spend money on new jeans. But again READ. THE. INSTRUCTIONS. This does not work on all materials. Read the tag inside your clothing to see if this will work for you :) Ps, it will stain your bath tub if you spill any from your container or pot - but Bleach washes it right off

Not the blackest black, but gets the job done
This black Rit dye has easy to follow instructions and a tendency not to bleed much, or for very long, in the wash. It doesn't give me the blackest of black results, but for the most part I use this dye to refurbish my husband's stained but still usable white cotton shirts in to black shirts, to hide the stains and keep the shirts in circulation longer and does exactly what I need it to do. The two pack is useful, so I know I won't run out of dye mid-project. It works best on natural fibers or for reviving dulled black clothing.

Does not work on synthetic cloth
It worked decently well on my cotton shoes but turned the white shoes purple. I'm going to re-dye them; hopefully, that will work. However, my cheaper synthetic cloth didn't even stain whatsoever. I didn't realize there was special dye for that type of cloth; So overall not bad, I guess, but not entirely effective.

It Works!
It works (so long as you follow instructions). Read directions twice dye it once. I will say we left our project in the dye for longer than it requires but love how it turned out!

Bought this to fix a pair of brown cotton pants that I knelt in bleach and ruined at the knee. I thought black would cover all. It barely covered the bleached area and did nothing to change the pants from brown to black. No, I don't think this product works very well at all.
