Is this the correct version that can supply up to 3a on both the 12v and 5v supply? or can it only supply 2a? why is this covered in picture?

Yes it is. The picture is just a generic photo of an UpBright adapter and I think you'll find the input and output voltage and current covered up or illegible in the phohto in most of their ads. The one I received through this ad was a JenTec JTA0512 which lists the output as "DC Output: +5V/3A, +12V/3A". Mine was for a DNS-323 and it works great so far (~ 6 months).
