Battery works; Charging problems not its fault.
A couple of years ago my blue GBA SP stopped charging its battery. No matter how many times I tried, my battery simply wouldn't charge. So, I was forced to use my brother's red GBA SP (which he had long since stopped playing) and eventually I stopped playing my GBA games.I recently got back into Pokemon again, and I was tired of playing on my bro's red GBA SP, so I looked on Amazon for replacement batteries. At the time, this was the cheapest one. Also, as another reviewer mentioned, it comes with a Phillips-head screwdriver, so that you can get the back case open. Anyway, I ordered the battery on the 18th, and it came in today.I didn't charge the battery, but it worked for a little while until the battery went red. So, I tried charging it, but the charging light didn't come on. Curious, I decided to run a couple of tests.First, I opened up my bro's GBA SP and charged the battery in that. Charging light came on, it worked fine. Then, I decided to try charging the other battery (the one I had thought went bad) and charged it for 5-10 minutes. I unplugged the GBA and turned it on; it worked fine (but was still low on power.)So, why do I mention this? If your battery doesn't charge, chances are the problem isn't with the battery; it's with the GBA SP. I think what happened to mine is that for some reason the charging mechanism in it doesn't work anymore; I don't know how or why, I don't have much technical knowledge with the GBA SP, but to me that seems to be the problem.Never fear, however; if you have another GBA SP, you can use that to charge the original battery, and when it's done you can place it back in your GBA SP. If you don't have one, then I'm sorry, but you probably will need a new GBA SP.Anyway, should you get this battery? Absolutely; it's a great battery and it works. I'll edit this review in 2 or so weeks about the durability of this battery, but right now everything works great. As I mentioned earlier, it comes with a small screwdriver that will open the back case, so all in all it's a good deal.-ScottP.S. The actual battery looks different then the one displayed here; I'll try to get a picture of it up on here. Also, apparently the company gives a portion of the money earned from selling this product to the Kids in Need foundation, which gives free school supplies to kids in need.

Easy to replace and makes a world of difference!
I paid full price for this product. However, I am an avid amazon reviewer, and as such have read in numerous reviews where other reviewers say they wish that the "discount/free" reviewers would state that up front, so they didn't "waste their time reading something people have been paid to write." As a fellow Amazon customer, I rely on the reviews of others to help me decide whether to purchase a product or not, and would never endorse a product if I did not truly believe in the quality--if I don't like something you're going to know I don't and why. So if you think that these discounted rate purchase reviews are contrived, those from some other reviewers may be, but anything I say is the honest truth. Please like my review if it has helped you decide in any way. Thanks!!!My special needs son loves his game boy advance, but as with any aging tech device, the battery can only be charged so many times. I didn't even KNOW you could buy replacement batteries! We replaced the battery with a minimum of effort and now the charge lasts so much longer than before!!! If you have a GBA you've been nursing along, take my word for it--this is money well-spent!

Battery works fine; my Gameboy advance sp was the problem
So for awhile now the switch on my Gameboy advance sp wasn't working properly...when I would try and turn my Gameboy on, it wouldn't. I would have to carefully toggle the power switch for my Gameboy to turn on. I thought that maybe it was a problem with the battery (the battery wasn't holding a full charge sometimes after charging it) so I decided to order a new battery, hoping it would fix the power problem. As you can see in the pictures, the battery comes with a tiny little screwdriver so you can unscrew the back which holds the battery. I have a picture of what the difference between the original battery and the new one look like and that the new one does in fact fit perfectly.Even though the new battery didn't fix the power switch problem (guess my Gameboy advance sp is finally starting to die on me, though it is over 10 years old) the new battery keeps a charge just fine so at least there's that + the little Phillips head screwdriver is a nice little bonus.

Solid Replacement!
This was a solid replacement for my Game Boy Advanced SP's battery. The product arrived on-time, came well-packaged, and even included a small screw-driver to open up a GBA SP. The battery works well and gives me about 4-6 hours per charge. I usually need to charge it for 1-2 hours. In contrast, Nintendo claims its stock SP battery would last between 7-10 hours and require 3 hours to fully charge.I have been using the battery for over three weeks now, with close to 3 hours per day whilst commuting. I have not seen any degradation in quality during these first few weeks. This product does have some strange quirks. After changing the battery for three hours before actually playing a GBA game, my SP displayed a red LED light indicating a low battery level. This seemed to be a false-positive, as the light went away after I rebooted my SP.I paid $7.99 (USD) for this battery and would recommend it to anyone who wants to get back into retro gaming.

Worked perfectly!
This was a total crapshoot. We found our old gameboy sp and wanted to play it but the battery was shot. I can’t believe how inexpensive this was and it worked perfectly. Even came with the screwdriver so it took all of 1 minute to replace. Awesome purchase. Thanks!
