Midland - MXTA26 MicroMobile 1.5 inch Base Diameter 6DB Gain Whip Antenna with NMO Great for Off-roaders, overlanders, Farmers - Max Power120W Boost Signal Output - 5/8 Wave - 32” Antenna

I installed this on the roof of my SXS with a small ground plane under it. The SWR was very low and It gets out just fine. Some said Ghost antennas don't work but I beg to differ. I talked to another radio 16 miles away. Very high quality from Midland. Easy to mount as works great with my Midland mobile radio

So I got this antenna out of the box and was immediately impressed with its build quality. It looks good, and it handled highway speeds with no issue. In town signal reception was good, and I had no issues hitting the repeater with a strong signal putting out 25 watts. However, when I borrowed my buddies RigExpert to check the SWR on the VHF band, my SWR was 5:1 or higher across. The RigExpert only went to 230mhz, I couldn't check the UHF band to see what it was doing up there, but it was resonant at 81.7mhz and below 2:1 SWR above 219. I know that there are factors inside my control that I could change to see if I could get a better match, but decided to check the Midland website to see the antennas specs. Here was the description I read this morning: "Expand GMRS two-way radio range by quadrupling signal output in wide-open spaces with limited obstructions and a flexible design fit for the elements" So the antenna is tuned and intended for use on GMRS frequencies between 462-467mhz as stated by the manufacturer. So if you are operating GMRS mobile, then by all means, I can recommend the antenna for build and quality. If you are operating on the amateur bands (2m<144-148mhz> and 70cm <420-450mhz>) I would consider something else.

The build quality of this antenna is outstanding. Boosted my radios performance by a lot and allowed me to reach out further than before and have transmissions come in much cleaner. Nice and flexible so if it does manage to hit a tree limb on the trail, or the drive through height limit thing, it just bends out of the way and returns right back to where it started. Great bang for the buck as well as its cheap and very effective for the amount of amazing quality you get from this antenna. The range it picks up is also mind blowing as it grabs the receiving transmission and handles it with ease from very reasonable far distances, especially considering my other radios dont pick up the same transmissions from further away with other antennas as good as this one does

This is definitely one of the best GMRS antennas out there. If you want distance, this is the one. It can also pick up 2M band frequencies with great reception.

I bought this so I could swap back and forth between the MX25 & the MX26 depending on riding geography. Both seem to work equally well, but then I use the MX26 in forests & hills and the MX25 in more open country. I utilize the same base and ground plane for both (a 12x12 steel plate w/magnetic mount on a composite top). We will have to see how they hold up to the elements and off road use, so 4 stars for now, may go to 5 in the future.

This is the best little mobile antenna ever made for GMRS. Don’t look anywhere else. If you’re able to get this thing above the roof of your vehicle, you will not be disappointed.

I got this midland ghost antenna for those trips where were traversing through overgrown and wooded areas. The ghost antenna is a stubby unit, which does not get in the way and still offers a very good range, for its size. Does not feel like it scarifices much frequeny loss. Its one of those antennas that you can leave on your truck everyday, and not worry if you had to drive through a drive thru.

Not going to complain in the least with this antenna. Tried it on my handhelds, before installing on my vehicle, and was getting an SWR reading of 1.02, and that's without a ground plane. I paired it up with a HYS TC-MB90 NMO Mount Magnetic Base, and I couldn't be happier with it. However, I had to order a small male-to-male coax cable to be able to test it on my Radioddity DB20-G 20-watt mobile unit that I just bought, and it hasn't arrived yet, so I haven't been able to test it there yet. I'm sure that it will be just as good as on the handhelds, especially since I have it set up with the best ground plane that I can get on the roof of my van. If it isn't good when I check it, I'll update this. However, at the moment I'm VERY pleased with it.
