Perfect for my purposes
Wow. I just don't know what all these reviews are on about. Look, I get that if you expect something to work one way and it doesn't, you're going to be upset. And in that way the negative 1-3 star reviews here are valid. I'm here to tell you why I think this is a 5 star product. I'm a Homekit user. When I built my system up from the ashes of a prior ZWave setup, I made a big decision: anywhere I had a lamp, I'd use a Hue bulb. Anywhere I had a switch, I would use a Lutron Caseta switch. I don't have any need/desire for color in my lights, so this worked perfectly for me. My primary goal was to automate every single light in my house and do it as cheaply as possible. It's been 3 years now and there's one thing I'm certain of: Caseta products are the best home automation products ever made. I have NOT ONCE had a problem with my Caseta products, and the Hue stuff gives me constant headaches. The only motion sensors I have in my house are in my laundry room and hall closet. They're Hue sensors controlling Hue bulbs in the Hue app (Homekit is completely incapable of programming occupancy correctly - the biggest oversight in a platform full of problems). As I mentioned, I have frequent problems with all the Hue products, so I was THRILLED when Lutron announced their Caseta motion sensor. I think I literally jumped up and down, I was so excited. Imagine my disappointment when I checked out the reviews on Amazon and Reddit! Everyone hated it! I couldn't believe it! But, as I mentioned, I consider Caseta products to be the best ever, so I took a chance on the sensor...and I'm glad I did. Look, I'm using this thing in a room where I actually don't want to use a light switch. I'm using it in my garage workshop, and I've had it installed and operating for 2 weeks now. I can tell you that in my setup it has been nothing short of flawless. It takes less than a second for the lights to turn on when I enter the room. Less than if I'd used a switch. I have the sensor set to pick up minor movement and I have it set for a 5 minute timer. I have not ONCE had the lights turn out on me while I was in my garage. And that's pretty important when I'm using a freaking table saw. Even when I'm on the opposite side of the room standing very still in front of my wall-mounted computer, the sensor is able to pick up enough motion to keep the lights on. The entire time I've been writing this review, I've been standing 15-18 feet from the sensor with my back turned to it, and my slight movements have been enough for it to catch. On the flip side, I know that the five minute time-out is working perfectly. See, we have a fridge and freezer in our garage, so we regularly come out here to get something. I've had plenty of times where I've come back to the garage anywhere from 7-15 minutes later and the lights were off like they should be. Again, I'm not doubting the people who don't like this sensor. I'm assuming that if I walked into the room, the lights went on, then I walked out of the room and turned them off from a switch and then walked back in a minute later, the sensor wouldn't turn the lights on. I can see that complaint and I think it's reasonable. I just wanted to offer this counterpoint to argue that in my situation it's far and away the best possible option. SUMMARY: If you have a place in your home or business that you only want controlled by motion and not switches, this is the sensor for you.

Love this product line
Needed to add motion detector for the lights in my large 3 car garage as it was very dark are night and the door opener lights did not add enough light. This motion sensor along with the Caseta switches worked perfectly and they were easy to install. They are a bit expensive, but they solved the issue and I and especially my wife love them.

Really great
Works really well. Using it in the garage to automatically turn lights on. Love it.

Finally got around to mounting this.
Easy peasy. Garage lights now come on with motion anywhere in garage. It took a little while for it to work as advertised, but tech support email came back as it started working perfecte.

Works great for the right use cases; some room for improvement
I'm pretty happy with this device for the use case I wanted it, but you should understand how this works and whether it's a good product for your use case before buying. This version will detect whether a space is vacant or occupied. You assign it to a room in the Lutron app, and then for each light in that room, you choose what should happen when the space is detected to be Occupied or Vacant. The controls you have will depend on the Lutron Caseta switch you have installed to control that light. If your switch is a dimmer, you can choose to set a specific dimming level for occupied vs. vacant. If your switch is an on/off switch, you will just be able to choose whether it should be on/off based on occupancy. You can also check a box under each light to indicate that that particular light should not be affected based on the occupancy sensor. I have two separate switches in my garage that control the main overhead lights and a separate light for my trash area. I previously installed a pico to make it easier to turn both of these lights on/off at the same time, but having a motion sensor makes this even better. As soon as I open the door to the garage, the lights are instantly on, and they reliably turn off when I leave. In case anyone from Lutron is looking, a couple feature requests that would make these better: 1) Revert to previous state -- I have some of my switches on a schedule. For example, I have my entryway light scheduled to be on at a 30% dimming level from sunset to sunrise. I would like this motion sensor to turn this light to 100% when the space is occupied and revert it to 30% when it's vacant. Right now, I can configure it to do that, but it will happen even during the day. You could also handle this by letting people set schedules on the occupancy controls (which may also be a good feature), but this one would be better solved by having a Vacant option to revert to the previous setting. 2) Make a weatherproof version -- I'd love to place a couple of these outside to control my exterior lights. 3) Control timeout / auto-on / activity from app -- Right now these need to be configured on the back of the device. Would be much better to let users configure these settings directly in the app.

Quality you expect from Lutron
It just works. My only complaint is that Lutron sensors are not visible to Apple home and work within the Lutron setup. Easy to work with but not perfect.

Works Fantastic
I don’t usually write reviews, but this product nailed a tricky setup. Our long basement storage area has 3-way switches at both ends—one inside and one outside the space. I wanted motion-activated lights, which can be tricky with 3-way wiring. The long space and two entries eliminates using switch mounted motion sensors. The Claro Smart Light Switch and sensor made it simple. Wiring instructions were crystal clear. I swapped the inside switch, added the jumper to the outside "dumb" switch, paired the sensor with a quick six-second press each, and it just worked—no app needed. I placed the sensor where it could see both doors, tested it, and it detected motion perfectly. Set the timeout for one minute, and the lights behave exactly as I wanted. If you need motion-activated lighting with a sensor away from the switch, this is it. Simple, effective, and reliable. Pros: Works with 3-way switches Sensor can be placed remotely from the switch Accurate motion detection at longer distances Easy setup—no app required Clear wiring instructions Cons: Limited if you want full smart-home automation with multiple Claro devices If you want the second switch to act like a normal switch you'll need to replace it as well with the Claro Accessory Switch

Works great for my need!
I have numerous Caseta switches in my home, and just installed one in my garage. It's a two car garage, but the opener lights don't throw off nearly enough light; I often found myself turning on the ceiling lights (which have 100 lumen LEDs). But too often I'd have my hands full - with the dog, the kid, food/groceries, etc. So instead of adding an Echo Flex or Dot to the garage, I opted for the motion sensor. I must say, it's working great! The only somewhat tricky part was setting it to a 1 minute timeout (but even that is easy). I open a door, and before I can even step into the garage, the lights flip on. And too often I forgot to turn these lights off; no more worry there! I might get another one of these for the area where I have my furball's water - he needs to see whenever he's getting a drink at night too! One Edit: The only thing I'd like to see added is a setting/configuration from the Lutron app that would let me activate the sensor only during certain times during the day. While having this always active works great for my application in the garage, I can see uses where I'd only want this active during nighttime hours. Update 10/20/2020 - I love this for my garage! However, as I noted on my edit, I wish I could set it to be active only during certain times, like sunset to sunrise (like the Caseta switches). That’s the only thing keeping it from five stars, and keeping me from buying more. Update 12/28/2020 - Lutron added support for dusk to dawn active/inactive, as well as custom times for when the sensor should be active. So now it won't kick on during the day when I don't really need it (the garage has just enough natural light). Upgrade to 5 stars! And maybe now I'll buy a second one.

works well
Lutron Caseta is good quality. Never buy open box or returned from amazon. They are always ruined by the previous customer and returned. You cant tell they are bad from a visual inspection, so amazon tries to resell them

Great for the bathroom
We got this to go with our home network of Smarthings etc. We’ve tried other sensors but they never worked properly. This one works great. We’ve programmed it for 15 min. and off from late evening til 7 a.m. You can still use the wall switch, but if you turn it off by the switch it takes 15 minutes to automatically come on again - but you can still use the switch to turn it on…so not a big problem.

Lutron motion sensors
If you like reliability, I will encourage you to purchase these. The Caseta devices are a joy to have due to their functionality and reliability. Included is the mounting hardware and it is a rather straightforward installation. Do keep on hand some CA123A batteries for replacement in case one fails. Highly recommend Caseta products by Lutron.

Works well - 95% of the time
I use this motion sensor to turn the smart lights on whenever someone enters the bedroom. While it works great 95% of the time, sometimes (5% of the time maybe) in the middle of the night, when the room is dark it doesn't detect a person until they get VERY close to the sensor. I haven't been able to figure out any pattern or reason why it does this, and it's very rare, but it does happen. Other than that, this sensor works fantastic for its purpose.

Always Does what it’s told
Like all Lutron Caseta switches and accessories , they light up my life—literally and emotionally. My house is basically a disco of reliability. I’ve got more of their switches than friends at this point, and not one of them has ghosted me… or flickered.
