I picked up the Klein Tools VDV500-705 Wire Tracer out of pure frustration—and it ended up saving me a ton of time and guesswork. We recently moved into a house that was prewired for phone and data, which sounds great… until you realize none of the cables are labeled. Trailer technician /car guy here. Have a lost connection or bad wire. Chasing the harness in trailers can be a pain, was it a tire blowout, a misguided screw/fastener that broke the wire? Who knows, I just hook up the sender in the circuit that's broken in the 7-way, and start chasing, tone comes over pen unit until you get to the break and then stops. Bing, there's your problem area. This can save a LOT of diag time and chasing gremlins!

For the price, this set works well. Comes with batteries already installed and ready to use.

The tester worked as needed, but it was a little static he sounding maybe I just don’t know how to work it perfectly. If you put the volume very low, you can hear the beep throughout the line, but if you’re looking for stuff through the walls, it won’t do that
