I thought I knew a lot but learned some more
I’ve gambled on and off on sports for about 20 years, usually during an annual trip to Nevada but also on the NFL. Also starting to look more at other sports even baseball which I’ve traditionally avoided (because from Chicago baseball usually brings misery). But I did learn more than enough to make the book worthwhile. I like the description in detail of how the bookmaker balances their books and what they take into consideration, and the different ways that the line and books are set in the USA and overseas. I also like the thorough description of how to use multiple accounts for odds and even a recommendation of how many to have (5). One item that could be added for the appendix is looking at the economics of all the new sports betting systems set up by the state. For example, Oregon does NOT seem to add any fees beyond the standard vig inherent in every bet, and this is backed up by the fact that the state is LOSING $ every year after fees to the vendor. On the other hand, Illinois (have a lot of friends there) seems to be adding 15% on top of wins (?) not sure - so then the next version of this book would go through each state talking about this and then seeing how good the geo-location “fence” is so if you could reach say Oregon’s site from out of state (via a VPN or something I’m not that technical). At some point maybe a remote burner phone bank can be an option ha ha I don’t know. In any case a great book I got my $ worth for $7.99 especially with some new sites and twitter handles to follow and there’s my idea for a new version of the book too for free.

Loved this book!
As a newbie to sports betting, I wasn't sure what to expect but I was immediately impressed with how much information this book has to offer. The book is really well-organized and well-written. Topics are broken down into easy-to-understand concepts and strategies, and I felt like I've learned a lot, even when I am just flipping through -- and it never felt boring. This is a reference guide that could be used over and over so I'll be ear-marking pages, especially for when sports' seasons start back up again!

Is a good book but he gets lost in the weeds .
I’ve been interested in sports gaming for two years and along the way I’ve been trying to get educated and trying to learn from my mistakes. This is not the best book(The best guide to everything betting by Appelbaum) but there are a few things that’s make it important and timely. The most important is that this book is recent and he talks about Patrick Mahomes and Tom Brady. Also, he explains basic stuff with great data to back it up. I loves knowing the averages I.e totals for NFL 46 and for college 56. I recommend it as part of your education in sports gaming. There were times especially with the numbers and charts that I got flashbacks from my stats class in college and started to break a cold sweat.

Good Value.
The best overall sports betting book I have ever read. All the major sports are covered. It explains how the book's make their line. How to compute the odds, and the different bets that can be made. Moneyline, point spread and the O/U. Also, baseball is covered in detail.

This is the book
I've read several different sports gambling books. Some of them had some utility. THIS book covers everything. Very useful with additional resources for more information.

Now I REALLY miss sports
I got this book right before a long weekend and I finished it in 3 days. I so wish I knew this stuff years ago before I lost every sports bet I've ever made. I so wish I had something to bet on now. I've read a lot of books on sports but I've never read anything about betting before. I can't imagine there is anything better out there - at least not on a math level I could understand. The author is funny and smart - they didn't include his picture so I don't know if he's good looking too. One day sports will be back and I will be ready for it!

Although written in an American context with an eye on NFL, MLB and NBA betting, the book is worth the price alone for Part 2 (Betting Smart). In Britain, we are miles behind the USA when it comes to sports analysis/handicapping. An enjoyable and informative book.

The contents of the book are great and good to read, but the books cover came damaged in multiple places.
