Mold Control, 32 oz Spray – Eliminates & Prevents Mold – EPA-Registered, Bleach-Free, Odorless, VOC-Free

I used this Concrobium to kill the mildew smell inside a circa 1960s drop front type desk with cubbies and drawers inside. I did it in two stages. In the first stage, I applied it with a paintbrush to all the bare wood and wiped off the excess to clean it, and much grime did come off. I used cotton rags, cut up from t-shirts,instead of paper towels. I removed and treated the drawers first, two large ones, and five small ones from the inside. After doing the first stage cleaning, I let them dry and then followed with a second coating to treat the cleaned wood. I was generous with the product, but was sure to wipe off the excess so as not to over soak the wood(which I probably did anyway), and so there would be no powdery residue left from the product. I approached the desk cabinet itself in the same way. One coat and wipe down to clean, let it dry, and then a second coat and wipe down to kill the mildew smell. I brushed it on all the bare wood surfaces, including the back and underneath of the desk, inside the large drawer openings, and inside each cubby, and each cubby drawer opening, then wiped off the excess. I left everything to dry for a couple of days, even though it didn't need that long, because the product stated that it actually kills the mold during drying process. The wood was very dry afterward and needed moisturizing/conditioning. I brushed on a generous layer(and wiped off the excess) of "Howard's Feed-N-Wax" wood conditioner which I bought at Ace Hardware. I let it sit a couple of days, then wiped it off any further remaining excess. Fyi, I used way too much I because I had to wipe it down several times with days in between before all the excess came to the surface wiped and the wood has some over saturated spots of conditioner...so I dodged a bullet of comprising the wood integrity by over conditioning... The results were so rewarding. There is virtually no mildew smell left within the desk at all. I am using the desk as well, so it is not being left closed up. The desk had been stored in a garage for 18 years. It didn't have visible mildew but smelled horribly. I believe the product was successful because instead of spraying it on, I used a brush to apply it which gave better coverage, and deeper absorption. Also I brushed it on twice. First time to clean it, and second time to treat it. And because I was sure to wipe the wood down both times afterwards which removed a lot of grime on to the rags. Wiping down will also assure there will be no white residue remaining as the manufacturer warned in their instructions. In my opinion, simply spraying on the product would not have been enough coverage to get deep enough into the wood and kill the mildew for this particular desk. The wood felt very dry after I treated it but the desk already needed conditioning. I probably used more of both products than was ideal, particularly the conditioner because I haven't worked with furniture before. I am so glad to have found this product that is safe to use, has no chemical smell and can be used on wood. I was very fond of the desk as my mom used it regularly when I was growing up and I wanted to keep it after she passed. Before trying it myself, I actually hired a refinisher to clean it but he couldn't remove the smell. He said he didn't know of any product for removing mildew on furniture. This product is also used for commercial cleanup, for example, for killing mildew after a flooding event. Wood, carpet, fabric, etc.

This stuff works great if used according to the directions. -How to Use It- Apply: Spray or mist an even layer of the ready-to-use liquid directly onto the moldy surface. Dry: Allow the surface to dry completely. As it dries, the formula physically crushes and encapsulates the mold spores. Clean: Note: Concrobium does not bleach stains. After the area is dry, wipe or scrub away any remaining surface stains with a damp cloth or brush. Re-apply: Apply a final, light mist to the clean surface to leave behind the protective antimicrobial shield.

This was recommended to me by a mold remediation specialist. It helps remove mold as well as stops growth. Reason for 4 stars is bc the product doesn’t remove the small pesky spots if you have rough walls/ceilings but it does stop them from growing. My mold is on the ceiling so it’s really hard to get to.

If you want to kill mold, this product is for you. If you want to remove mold stains, you will need a different product. This product is not designed to remove stains, and many low ratings seem to come from people who expected it to do something it was never meant to do. What Concrobium does very well is kill mold and help keep it from coming back. It does not contain bleach, and once it dries, it is safe to leave in place. If you are renovating a home and find mold behind drywall, under flooring, in a crawlspace, or on framing, this is one of the best products available. Just remember that no mold product can stop mold from returning if the moisture problem is not fixed. First fix the water problem, then treat the mold.

This is what the professionals use to control and eliminate mold. I’ve used this several times in my garage, my bathroom around my window frames all due to water damage, which caused mold no need to spend on expensive alternatives. This kills and works like magic and there is no after smell.

Not totally fond of the spray bottle, it sometimes seems to leak some on your hand when triggering. What is inside the bottle though seems to work very well. If the mold is at the point where it looks furry, hitting it with this stuff knocks it back to a slime that seems to be easily removed. I had this white mold in my attic, on some rafters, and it seemed to do the job well. Rafters that I was able to leave in place, I hit 3 times with this stuff, although twice would likely be enough. From the standpoint of saving your structure, this chemical is very inexpensive. You can also buy it in a gallon jug, much more economical and provide your own spray bottle. I purchased both as I had a large area to cover. I stripped the decking off my roof in the infected region, so I was in the open air, but near as I can tell, there is no odor coming from this chemical. Of my 5 quarts, I have about 2.5 left, but would definitely buy again.

Maybe it prevents mold, but doesn't kill existing mold. I had previously used spray bleach in my bathroom and the mold disappeared, but returned after several months. I thought this product would kill it and then prevent it from returning. Now I still need to spray bleach to erase it.

This stuff worked great. Our trailer sprung a leak that we didn’t know about and obviously grew mold. It didn’t remove the stains but it did get rid of the majority of the fuzzy growth underneath the cabinets. We used it on wood, and the wood handled it fine. This stuff doesn’t really have a smell which is nice but a good smelling one might be a good option for down the road. It worked fairly quick. I’d buy it again if we have another issue, money well spent.

It serves its purpose

Under the sink base there was a mold on the wood. Applied this spray 3 days. Seems like it handled situation well. But if your wood is too damaged or the mold is deep you will need a prof cleaning. Spray wont help.
