What is the length when the 50" x 30" is closed?

If you pack the bag fully, then it is 50", but if you don't then you get a little more, upto 3".

50" is the length completely open? I'm trying to figure out if I can fit two 48" poles with other smaller items and still close it properly.

I think that would work. There is a little room for the end closure to bulge out if the width is not completely used. Remember that the opening is fairly small, just the end, but that should be fine for poles. Do keep in mind that this bag is heavy canvas, so it may be inconvenient for a relatively small load. We used it to ship a folded knee walker on planes.

How much weigh can it hold?

The most amount of weight I put in the bag was 180 lb which was my buddy as a joke and it help up great.

Can you fit 6 regulation size basketballs in it?

You can fit more than 6 regulation size basketballs in it especially with 1 of the larger duffle bags. The basket balls are only around 29 inches around in circumference, taking up just under 10 inches in diameter taking up space in each direction or dimension in the bag. meaning you can fit 5 in a line in the bag with plenty of room still on the side for more equipment, gear or even piling another row of basketballs. Thats with the large bag that is 50 inches x 12 x 12. see less. You could even just pack a quality basketball air pump tool with the pin and quickly & easily deflate balls for travel, then you could carry over 20+ balls in your duffle bag and then inflate what ever balls you want to use once at the court, would only take a minute if doing it right.
