Great for very affordable.
When I ordered these after looking around I was not expecting much. And there are some areas of ‘not much’ where my expectations were met. After a solid amount of time listening to them and trying some different songs to reach different ranges I have concluded that for 25 USD they are pretty much on point and offer a great clean crisp sound I would not have expected for such small speakers.People can be particular about their sound so I try and treat this on a cost to sound basis. My home is filled with Sonos, and my PC speakers are of the Bose Companion variety. I’d like to say these compare on all levels, but there are some short comings. The thing to remember is the price for what you get. I partly anticipated to be sent cheap ‘so so’ little speakers. Rather I received a sound experience more than fitting what I expect from my audio. While they don’t have the deep rich bass of Sonos, or Bose, they do have mini subs that give a very rounded feel to the sound. A cheap sub to tie in to them would offer a more rounded depth and complete the picture. Take that for face value, I say cheap sub because you bought cheaper speakers and we’re just looking to round the budget sound some to complete a budget audio experience that can end on a very high note. They take affordable and provide a very solid experience. The first indicator was holding one of the small speakers in my hand and realizing they had a very solid weight to them. A felted rubberized material on the bottom of each speaker helps them stay put when set on a surface. They deliver by being able to be turned up louder than anticipated and not cracking. Consistent clean sound… I keep coming back to this. They sound great (for the price)Inline volume control, not a fan of this but I understand it here. I would rather have seen control on the back of one of the speakers. This brings me to spacing. These speakers aren’t for the people who want the adaptable ability to swap for a longer cable. You get about two feet and that’s it. Not ideal to me. I would rather see end to end 3.5mm AUX to which could be replaced at my decision. I have never been a fan of end to end this is how it is. If I want more, I’m required to cut, splice, and tape. While I like the blue glow of the LED lights, they add flare character and are a nice complimentary aesthetic, the ability to turn them off would have been appreciated. If you’re shopping for budget speakers and spacing isn’t an issue (or LED lights) than I would recommend these. I have had a great experience with them so far. These little speakers are a testament to me that affordable is not bad.

Distortion and poor insulation takes away from good sound.
I gave this a solid 3 stars... ultimately I would buy a different product if I was to do this again, what makes this product a deal breaker from an other wise decent sound experience is the poor insulation in the wires; way too much interference noise is leaking through the poorly insulated wires.I hear all sorts of distortion, interference, and pops from just connecting these to my laptop(seemingly from my wifi antenna), in addition I use a wireless mouse, as I scroll the wheel you can hear a whining noise play through these speakers, really frustration and annoying. On top of this, the volume control wheel causes distortion as well, I can kind of forgive this as I've experienced this on my Koss products with a volume control wheel as well... basically you have to jiggle the wheel and play with it to make it properly play the sound through both speakers evenly, otherwise it often just plays through one speaker louder than the other and you have to play with the wheel to make it play evenly through both. Now for the good... yes indeed, these speakers put out some decent quality sound. The volume and clarity is quite impressive for it's size, has decent midranges and good treble. As for bass, while certainly lacking, it does have enough bass where the sound isn't "flat" or "cheap" sounding. The sound experience in general is what I would describe as: clear, crisp, "clean", some "richness" to it, a little bit of "depth", but certainly low on bass.I also have a set of Altec Lansing BX1220, those surprisingly sound terrible compared to these Satechi's. They look like cans but they lack bass, despite the design looking like it could be capable of producing some bass, however, the BX1220's at least have good insulation in the wires and don't get interference and distortion from wireless devices as much, and the volume control is less susceptible to screwing up the distribution of the two speakers. (Hah, as I write this it would be nice if you combined the best qualities of both speaker sets... good interference insulation, a higher quality volume control wheel, and decent sound quality, then that'd be a good set.)All in all, I feel like there might be better options out there, something that has good sound quality as well as good insulation from interference and distortion(which kind of make these Satechi's a deal breaker for me, it's quite annoying and frustrating) for this price range.

A great buy--I'm happy!
If you like pipe organ, New Age or dance music, or any other genre with lots of deep bass, you'll likely be disappointed with these speakers; otherwise, they're amazingly good for what they are. What they are NOT is cheap, plastic-y junk. They are aluminum and have a surprising heftiness despite their size. The sound is clear and easily fills a small room. You can actually mitigate the lack of bass by playing with the equalizer on your favorite music-playback software. It's not going to sound as though you've suddenly added a subwoofer, but it can help a little depending on the type of music being played. As it happens, my main rig is housed in a small, elegant, brush-aluminum chassis... with a blue LED power indicate surrounding the power button. As you may imagine, these speakers match it perfectly, especially having their own subtle blue LED lighting on the base. What a nice added bonus! :) Even better, they are powered via a USB port, so there is no additional power brick and extra cable clutter behind my computer setup.Although I do listen to music very occasionally, I'm not overly picky--but I don't have a tin ear, either. I do appreciate quality. Nowadays, I'm only a casual gamer, and most of my audio needs are related to creating and playing videos. Nevertheless, these speakers certainly sound better than any other inexpensive speakers that I've owned since assembling my first computer (in 1987). They meet my needs perfectly. I couldn't ask for anything better for the money I spent.

Good speakers for upgrading standard sound from digital devices
Purchased to run with my iMac.Performance overall------------For the price these speakers are very good value. As they are USB powered they will never be a speaker for audiophiles. But they are great for general listening when pottering around the house. I can turn the volume up enough to fill my 4 bedroom house. Although there is a point where the sound distorts, but I can’t imagine anybody wanting to have them this loud. The speaker cable has an inline volume control which is handy when working at the desk.Sound quality.--------------------All good for the price although the bass is lost when not in the room when listening.Build quality.------------------Solid and weighty with a real quality feel. The speakers emit a nice atmospheric blue light under the speaker shelf.Other points------------------The speakers are advertised for computer use, however if you have a USB plug for the mains you technically could use these anywhere there is power and link the audio cable into a MP3 player or phone/tabletWhat would I change?-----------------------The blue light has no control, as long as it is plugged into the computer via USB it will be turned on. Even when the computer is put sleep the lights remain on.Summary-----------------------If you just want to upgrade the sound from your computer or digital device then these are great for the price (£16.99 when I purchased) however, if you care what how you music sounds spend an extra £15 and try to buy a pair of second hand/refurbished JBL Duet speakers :)

OK for music listening
I bought these after my old 2.1 speaker system started to make weird noises and I thought it might be time to buy new ones. Some notes about these speakers: as others have mentioned, they are surprisingly heavy and feel solid and well built. The also look good - to my opinion. The blue lights are not annoyingly bright, although I'm not sure why they need to exist in the first place. The moment I plugged these on - however - I started to miss my old 2.1. speakers. There isn't anything wrong with the sound, other than obviously there is not that much bass as there would be in a set with separate subwoofer. So don't expect that.I would guess these quite OK speakers for listening music (unless you listen EDM or something like that with lots of bass), but for etc. gaming they kinda lack the "punch". I will keep them though, until I find some 2.1 set that is as good toking as these.

Good speakers, bright light!
These small, sturdy speakers a great for casual computer audio. They are good quality enough for watching online videos like youtube etc, but not really good enough for movies or streaming high quality music. However saying that, what can you expect from a low budget set of speakers. Infant they exceeded the quality that I expected. The quality of the overfall product is good. They are steady standing on a desk as they have a bit of weight to them and the light that glows looks very smart. Having said that the blue light which is installed on them is not able to be independently turned off and for some reason whenever they are connected to a device they stay on even if the device has been shut down. This can prove quite annoying as the light is very bright and pretty much illuminates the room. The light in the images looks a lot more subtle.

Look like Bose, sound is great
These small speakers are just great. They look sleek and expensive, no feel of cheap plastic. They are quite heavy as well. They look like Bose! I love listening to dubstep music and I must say the bass is really there! however, I advise to adjust the sound effects in audio control panel, because default settings sound like crap. The only disadvantage for me is the lightning. Like somebody mentioned, this should be optional with a switch on the side. OK, I can stand the blue lights, but it's so frustrating that the lights don't turn off when you shut down the computer! I've got a PC in my bedroom and the first night I was sleeping the whole night in the blue shadow filling the room because I was hoping they were charged somehow and would switch off itself after a while. Unfortunately, they didn't and when I woke up, the lights were still on. So now I need to take out the USB from my PC every time I shut down the computer. I can live with that, it's not climbing a mountain, but a small switch would change a lot!Overall, I am still very satisfied with the product. For the ridiculous price I've paid, these are great speakers that LOOK great as well. You can find many other speakers at a similar price, but look how cheaply and poorly they are made.

Excellent little speakers!
The sound quality is really good, especially at the bass end, and they are small and neat, with reasonable weight and solid bases, so they don't get knocked around easily. The lighting effect is a bit unnecessary (shame there is no way to turn it off) and the connecting cable is a paired USB and mini jack, which if your laptop is like mine with the plugs on opposite sides means you have to split the cable - no big deal but could be neater. Volume also very good for size, and the inline volume control is handy to have. Very happy with them and would definitely recommend - very good value for money.
